Recent video from Australia. Starts out as a typical "lights in the sky" video, then the lights start making drastic maneuvers and dip below the horizon and can be seen against the background of the city's lights. I don't think they could be kites given the speed, but I am no expert on stunt kites. Maybe remote control airplanes fitted with bright LEDs.
Anyways, I thought it was different at least.
