I'd like to hear reactions to this vid. Any thoughts?

This video has been posted to the forums before; you may wish to try and track down that thread.

At that time, I thought an astronomical cause was most likely (specifically, an out-of-focus Venus that would have been quite bright in the western sky at the time the film was taken).

However, I think we can safely rule out Venus. At 6:36, the camera operators appear to mount the camera on a tripod and it's evident that the phenomenon is almost overhead. This would rule out Venus which would have been close to the horizon.

Vega is nearly overhead at the right time, and quite bright. If the phenomenon remained relatively stationary, Vega would need to be ruled out. It would've been visible by that time and would have appeared as a solitary and stationary point of light overhead.

But at 8:39 the camera is still on the tripod and the phenomenon seems to engage in "gyrations", at least relative to nearby visible foliage. The nature of the movement (to me) does not seem to be due to wind moving the foliage. If the camera is truly still on the tripod, we can rule out hand movements. (I assume the operator is not moving the tripod.)

Assuming the object itself is moving, then the movements are rather bizarre and would seem to rule out satellites/ISS or any sort've conventional aircraft. Or balloons.

The nature of the image itself is bizarre, but I don't give that much account due to problems these cameras experience when focusing on distant points of light

Interesting video.

Figured that might have been the case. Too bad the guy couldnt get a decent lock on it for any more than a half a second at a time. The colour change unusual too.
