UFO's a catalyzers of cultural change?

Free episodes:

I would not be adverse to that concept of deconstruction at all. It could all be a precursory project carried with the goal of easing us into a greater galactic community of some description. I'm making a big leap, but you'd never know. Good article Steiner!

I've favored that interpretation. Of course the "easing" itself takes quite a while.

And it would have to be hidden and covert, hidden, not what it appears to be. Not out of deception, but because "they" wish not to alarm us. If this were the case, and they do not wish to interfere with our development as a race, but still wish to develope a kind of openmindedness in us which would allow us to come into contact with, and not completely freak the fuck out, a being with intelligence on a par with our own, or above our own, or perhaps even so different and beyond our own intelligence that we could scarcely comprehend it. So, they would walk a tight rope in such a case - How could they catalyse change without making any impact on our growth as a civilisation. The answer would be to confound our expectation, or as vallee puts it, to give enough for hardcore believers to keep on believing, but not enough for hardcore debunker to turn, giving a WTF kind of character to the encounters. They could be elaborate forms of playacting, which in the end effect us on deeper levels, like on a subconscious level, which could contribute to greater subtle changes in culture as a whole, bringing us to a point where, as David Bowie put it, we could bring ourselves to "love the alien".

And I think it would take a very long time indeed.

That's a vvery good reason for secrecy, I don't know if they are here or not, but your argument is better than "ZOMG MEN IN BLACK WANTS TO KILL ME"

Greg Bishop, the author of the article, made a quick visit here yesterday on his way back from Monument Valley where he was power parasailing this past weekend. I'm jealous. For someone so grounded he sure loves to get his feet off the ground! He's a gifted writer with a great sense of humor and a wry insight that is much needed in this constipated field. I highly recommend his book on the Bennowitz Case, Project Beta and his Radio Mysterioso Podcast—I'm his lastest guest *grin*
