The boy who cried wolf comes to mind here for if it is true the problem is people do not believe the BS anymore.

"the world's leading sponsor of terrorist activity"... now that is a matter of perspective, I mean no disrespect to the average American and US soldier but one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.
Also the kids of the mother you just killed in a drone attack would and do say the very same thing about the US, and given time become Freedom fighters/Terrorists.

The same line was also used on Iraq by Bush that Iraq was "the world's leading sponsor of terrorist activity".

"violent extremist ideology and rhetoric"... hmm sounds like the Tea Party :p

Anyway in all seriousness the situation in the Middle East is heating up.

Iran is a whole new ballgame compared to Iraq. I think 'The West' would be well advised to avoid conflict with Iran - it would only end up in some ongoing quagmire.
 
Iran is Shia and Al Qaeda is Sunni. Have people not been watching the news since 2001. Al Qaeda blows up other Muslims for not being Sunni.This is propaganda at its worst.

People might think i am overreacting here, but America has really gone dark and cold since 2001 and its not funny.

I think Iran has no chance in a ground war or air war against the States or Europe. It will not be quick, but could last months if not years. However China and Russia are voicing their opinions more recently, they don't want any Western attacks on Iran and Syria. And might even militarily intervene, if it does happen. Its a crazy thought, but humans do crazy things. Less than 70 years ago their was a World War and how many wars has their been since then? And how close have we come to nuclear engagement on a global scale. Roughly five times it nearly happened, so don't think the worse can't happen it can.
 
Any person who suggests the US preemptively attacks Iran and doesn't know why that pic is important is a complete and total fool. The scary thing is there are people who set policy who know exactly what would happen to the cost of crude oil globally if we attacked Iran. The thing is they are such fucking lunatics that they don't care it would cause chaos on flow of 40% of the world's movable oil. It's one of the dumbest, most self destructive things we could do as a country and WILL lead to WW III.
