Dang, Chris, you are just being too sensitive. Sure he's abrasive about it, but within his lines, it sounds like he listens, enjoys your show and is offering some constructive criticism. It does hurt to hear, but we all have room for improvement. It's just a shame that all he can suggest is for you guys to be more like Art.

I have to admit that I've never understood fanboy-ism in any form, it's really sad to see someone so invested in something someone else is doing that they take offense when someone who they don't even know expresses a negative opinion about their chosen thing. It's rampant in the world of video games as well and I just don't get all that rah rah Microsoft or rah rah Sony bullshit. Expressing your opinion is fine, but when you're so invested that you get personally offended when someone denigrates your favorite company or radio show I think it's time to search for some meaning in your own life rather than in some corporations product offering or a radio show.

TLDR version, get a life and unglue your lips from Art Bell's ass.

Yes, it's exactly like that. We get it, that's your favorite fighter, is it really important enough to get pissed off and belligerent when someone doesn't agree? I don't think so, but maybe I'm the crazy one, it's possible.

It reminds me of the movie "A Bronx Tale" the main character in the first half of the film is a child and he's obsessed with Mickey Mantle, until he meets a local mobster who gives it to him straight: "Mickey Mantle? Why do you give a shit about Mickey Mantle? Go tell Mickey Mantle that your dad can't afford to pay the rent, see what he tells you. Mickey Mantle doesn't care about you, so why should you care about him?" I feel like that sentiment can almost be applied universally, Microsoft, Sony, Apple, or in this case Art Bell, go tell them that you can't pay the rent and see what they tell you. All this misplaced loyalty to a person you don't even know, or worse yet, a corporation who doesn't know that you exist and couldn't care less about you. It strikes me as terribly sad.

Despite what I may have facetiously posted earlier, I admire the listener taking the initiative to voice his opinion. It's nice when someone cares enough to take the time out of their day to share their opinions.

Knowing what the audience thinks is It's an important part of the creative process. Just ask a stage actor that begins working in films- they miss the feedback generated by the audience.

well opinions are much better when offered as constructive criticism, calling someone a fucking...or even stupid hick doesn't cut it, at least without offering suggestions on how one can become less hicky. perhaps the poster can enlighten us as to what the situation was that caused art's early departure. As gene mentioned earlier, little details like streaming rights should have been touched on BEFORE the show went to air, if indeed that was the true reason, even if it was in negoiations... 3 weeks, are you kidding me ???... these things have to be given some time. also i guess im waiting to hear what the situation was that art couldn't have shown a little more descretion when choosing a name for his show. Lastly, I still don’t see why djdarkgod got his panties in a bunch, the guys merely offered some commentary on it. Was the poster expecting that gene and chris call in art’s(former) show with the some pointers?

Muadib put it exactly how I was thinking. Unless Art Bell was planning to pay this guys mortgage off with proceeds from his new failure of a show- I really don't get where he is coming from. Also reminds me of these hard core Pro Football fans of one particular team. I played football for many years when I was much younger, and love the game. But If my city's pro-team wins the next dozen superbowls- as interesting as it may be- it doesn't change my living situation one tiny bit. Unless you're a business owner and rely on that team to win and bring in business- I just don't get it.

It was a crap move to use the Dark Matter moniker, and as much of a trailblazer as he was, he's somewhat of a 90's era dinosaur these days. It was a fun flashback for a week, that's about it. I also think that Noory has the intellect of Dan Quayle, but he seems like a nice enough guy. It was silly for Art to blast them the way he did when the crap he goes along with is just as dumb. He brought nothing new to the table.

I don't like all the shows you do, but I listen to and enjoy most of them. Everyone has an opinion, but you guys provide quality content and guests on the regular. I wouldn't sweat the hate mail from the butt-hurt.

I don't recall Bell being humorous at all. If I remember correctly his personality was a mix of short-temperedness, gruffness, and a tad bit of snarkiness. The only humor the show had was from the open line callers who were obviously lying, trolling, or out of their minds. The word circus comes to mind.

Keep doing what you are doing Chris... I don't listen to C to C because it is frankly brain fluff and what I did listen to of Art Bells now defunct show was not much better.
So keep asking the hard questions, rolling the show the way you want to, and say what you think I respect that.

Thanks. I posted the original comment to illustrate how difficult it is to be all things to all people. For every email like that we get 25-30 positive ones. Regardless, we'll keep asking probing questions and providing the best quality guests we can attract to the show. The Mathew Williams episode to air this Sunday is especially fascinating & revealing... we need to get him back for a round 2!

Awww now you are just teasing me!! I don't get to hear the show until Monday in my little patch of the planet but it helps keeps me sane for a few hours of the day while I am working.
