Very frustrated with being able to C&P from Word

I was saying boo-urns
I am really frustrated when I take the time to put a long reply into a Word document to spell check it and I get errors trying to re-post it to the forums. Messages like this:

<TABLE class=tborder border=0 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center><TBODY><TR><TD class=tcat>The following errors occurred with your submission: </TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt1><!--POSTERROR do not remove this comment-->
  1. You have included 6 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the BB code tag and HTML tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.
    [/LIST]</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

[COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]I can't even ">>" and ":o" through the message and at some points even after I change it, it still says their are errors! I spent 15 minutes trying to edit a reply and I'm pretty darn frustrated about it. Why is this doing this and how can I simply post something I edited from Word without going throught all of this? Why bother with Word? That's overkill. Just enter your text directly into the Reply screen. If you use such browsers as Firefox, Opera and Safari (Mac OS or Windows for all), you'll have a built-in spell checking capability.

I would never write a message board post in a word processor, ever, never. :)

I'm just used to it. :D

Why does it do that though? I still have a reply I CAN'T POST no matter how much I edit it? I'm far from a computer wiz, but I don't get why a simple copy and paste causes the internets to go crazy.

Because you are not cutting and pasting straight text. You are taking a document with lots of weird formatting (and Microsoft epitomizes complicated) and expecting the forum software to parse it. That isn't going to happen.

If you must use Word, save the document first as a Text (.txt) document and then copy and paste.

Thank you, Gene. I just wound up re-typing it. :D

Plus I finally loaded Foxfire. I am just so use to IE and lazy. Thank you for the help.

More and more people are waking up and dumping Internet Explorer. In every single test of browser rendering fidelity and performance, all versions of Internet Explorer are dead last, usually by immense margins. Microsoft is totally unable to deliver a stable browser, and you will see their market share taking further dumps over the next few years.

And, by the way, because of its Unix underpinnings, Internet access under Mac OS X is demonstrably faster than any version of Windows. Microsoft has probably never, ever, built a product that's best in its class.

Simple:

If you have to take copied text from WORD, simply use NOTEPAD as an intermediary. Paste to Notepad then copy/Paste again from Notepad to the forum.

That will remove all the awesome Microsoftyness.

I discovered the horrors of copying and pasting from Word a long time ago, in the days before blogging platforms or browsers had spellcheck functions.

Sadly, recent versions of Firefox have been disappointing - too much bloat, and the browser's a voracious resource hog, too. Safari is a much better browser - and it's available for Windows. Slight niggle with the spellcheck function in Safari - it only does American English, so whenever I use UK spellings, such as 'colour' or 'odour', it flags them as spelling errors.

BTW, before anyone launches out a small fortune on MS Office, Sun's Open Office is available as a free download, and does pretty much what MS Office does, minus the weird formatting and the hefty price tag.

Siani it must be something to do with your machine/memory/something because Firefox still flies for me. Of are you talking about the very latest version that was released in the last week? I have updated to that yet because my Internet has been capped.

Gareth, I've not updated to the latest version yet. I've tried disabling all add-ons, yet within about 20 minutes of use, Firefox swallows up more than 330,000 kb of RAM. It freezes up my whole system. I know several other people who have stopped using it for the same reason. I have no such problems with Safari or IE8.

hmmmm weird. It must be some specific conflict that is happening on certain setups. Im sure it will be resolved in the future.

Have you checked the Firefox forums?
