Devil's Advocate
I was watching the news and the story du jour was the Ontario lottery 6/49 which as of this past weekend had it's 2nd biggest jackpot ever ($45 mil). After the usual news bites about previous winners and "where are they now?" garbage, they featured a list of things you're more likely to do than win, given the standard odds of 14 million to 1 against. These included flipping a quarter 24 times and having it come up heads every time, dying of a poisonous snake bite (10x more likely) and being struck by lightning (250x more likely). But it also listed spotting a UFO (5x more likely).

Now, I don't know if those odds are accurate but I don't really care. What struck me as odd was it's inclusion in a list at all of rare but never-the-less REAL things that could happen. Normally I don't buy into the "gradual disclosure" idea but when the usually ridicule-heavy media throws a curveball like that, I have to wonder just a little...

Just to add, Germany had it's biggest lottery jackpot ever as well a week ago (I think it was around 8 Million Euro), sadly I diddn't win either because I don't *play*.I still wonder though...

Yeah but, what are the odds that you could win the lottery, survive a plane crash, and end up on a mysterious island that could transport you in time??

Sorry, I watch little television, but I do watch at least one show.

I do play the lottery maybe once a week even though my chances effectively zero. It may as well be. But perhaps I should just carry around a camera at all times and make weekly bets that I would spot a UFO and get it on camera. It seems my odds would be better.
