Dear AponeMC,

Welcome to The Paracast Community Forums!

We welcome you aboard, and hope that you'll have a great time here with our community as well.

Hello all,

My name's Rob, I'm 29 and I'm from Wales in the UK. I have a beautiful wife, Rhea, who is about 3 months pregnant with our first child (can't wait!).

I first became interested in the paranormal in my early teens thanks to my dad who would tell me about Roswell, Bigfoot etc. etc. Honestly though the last 10 years I haven't really actively researched any particular topics (been busy making money and paying bills) but I've always swayed towards the unknown with my interests in fiction/movies etc. etc. I took a pretty hard hit with the economic recession but I am fortunate to have found a stable job that pays very well and the best part is - I get to listen to my iPod while I work. So for the past 6 months or so I have been hardcore listening to the Paracast for at least 6 hours a day, 5 days a week (yes, my brain has turned into mashed potato).

So, I have a lot of time on my hands and would like to rekindle my interest in the unknown and, if anyone actually reads this thread, I'd greatly appreciate any advice on any 'entry level' material, books/documentaries/websites, that would be a good start for me.

Thanks for reading!

Well that was certainly one of the more thoughtful introductions i've seen. And your questions make me think that maybe we should have a sticky with everyone's suggestions ( including skeptical ones) on reading choices, podcasts and maybe web sites and why...the better to let new people know if it suits their interests...as it seems to pop up quite often.

Like Mulder's poster, I want to believe, but I am skeptical in nature. So yeah, it might be a good idea to have a section that lists rescource material that has been vetted to some extent by the community. There's a LOT of info and sources out there and since anyone can write books and post online, I'm sure a lot of it is questionable in nature. So a tool that can help 'seperate the signal from the noise' and point people in a good direction would be much appreciated by me at least.

-Rob

Welcome to the forum. I'm lucky enough as well to have a job that allows me to listen to podcasts. Have fun in the forums and do be shy to ask questions - everyone here is pretty civil and it's one of the better forums to discuss this topic with minimal woo.
