Dear Gene, Chris, and Paracast Community,
I stumbled upon the Paracast back in January this year looking for podcasts to make long car journeys easier. After listening to older episodes as well as the weekly ones since then, I've had a chance to listen to a wide variety of guests and interactions -- allowing an opportunity to get a strong sense of who you are, where you're coming from, and how much you're invested in paranormal investigation. The Blake Cousins interview did it: I had to break my reserved position and join the community to participate more fully. Well done, Gentlemen. Well done. That interview was brilliant and the outcome far surpassed any expectations I could have held.
I'm not an investigator so much as a junkie. I've had many paranormal experiences and my primary interest is in truth. I was a Buddhist monk (novice) until last summer, and am presently deciding whether I want to continue as a lay teacher/chaplain or dive back in. I read, have read, and continue to read whatever I can get my hands on (and have since I was old enough to read), as well as listening, watching videos, documentaries, etc. My father's side of the family has a history with UFO phenomenon, and my mother's with the unseen world. I've seen and experienced enough to know that the world we live in is far more complex than we are likely comfortable with.
I study psychology extensively, and I'm especially interested in the links between psychology, parapsychology and consciousness, and the way they interact with different styles of interpersonal communication/linguistics and levels of education/social background. What's "real" to Werner Bock and what's real to those of us listening to Werner Bock talk about his reality are very different. At the very least, the contrast presents us with a serious gap (or many serious gaps). There were many factors playing out in that particular situation/conversation that are fascinating, and afterwards I found myself with a great deal to say about it and little time in which to do it.
I also wasn't sure whether or not it would be of any interest to the community here, and I'm still not, but I hope that joining the conversation and testing the waters a bit will provide a much better idea.
Warmest regards,
BlackDogGrimm
