I've been a member of some huge forums but never have I seen an automated introduction subforum that posts a welcome thread with your name on it. Unless of course Gene reads every one of these and is actually genuinely interested... In that case, I'm 26 with a UFO book collection that exceeds 100, going back as far as 1952 at last count. Got interested in the Paracast a few years back, lost interest when it became 1/3rd commercials every five minutes, regained interest some time this winter when I realized that the show is consistently intelligent and asks the tough questions, and that it takes less time to trim the commercials out than it does to listen to even the first segment of them. (Although I don't suppose you'd want that secret revealed, so that's all I'll say on that.)
Typically I find myself balancing between The Paracast, Mysterious Universe, and The Unexplained (and every once in a while a George Knapp C2C). Mysterious Universe has turned into some sort of "Ben and Aaron read reddit" shell of what it once was, which is unfortunate, and The Unexplained is somewhat infrequent and bounces between too many topics that I have no interest in. The Paracast is mostly related to ufology, which I enjoy, and seems not to be phased by the amount of blind idiocy out there, as evident from the thirdphaseofmoon debacle, which was a fantastic exposé by the way. Could have focussed a bit more on how the guy is raking in tens of thousands of dollars in ad revenue and couldn't give two shits if anyone called him out on it, but otherwise fantastic.
I'm the music director at a non-profit university radio station, as well as a DJ who co-hosts a two hour stoner rock show, so it's always interesting to hear the kind of banter between another radio duo comfortable in their topic. I've been considering recording myself reading some of the old classic UFO books in my collection by the likes of Scully or Keyhoe, doing it in the transatlantic style radio-drama voice, and turning it into a local one hour late night show.
I also really just want to post this image here:
I didn't have the heart to press 'post', the guy gets a lot of flak as it is, even if most of it is justified.
