Dear Melly,

Welcome to The Paracast Community Forums!

We welcome you aboard, and hope that you'll have a great time here with our community as well.

Hi and thanks for the welcome. A little about me- I'm probably going to be more of a lurker than a talker. I have experienced a few unexplained phenomena over the course of my 36 years on earth (each quite different) and it has made me very interested in and open to the paranormal. I am an American woman living in Europe with my husband and I am a teacher. I found the Paracast about 2 years ago and havent missed an episode since I started. Love it! (Werner Bock aside, lol).

Hi Melly, welcome, and I can assure you that you're not alone. I and other people here have also had strange experiences, so I believe they do happen and that they don't all have "normal" explanations. I hope that you will share your experiences with us sometime :).

Sure, this would probably be the only place I would feel comfortable talking about them, but I still feel absurd admitting them in public. There are 3 incidents that have really impacted my beliefs over the years, besides the odd coincidences or feelings that we all have had over the years.

The first was in rural Indiana when I was about 18. There is a place called spook light, which is a known spot. I drove out there one night with 2 friends and we sat out there not really expecting anything to happen as we had been out there several times before. We were sitting in the car talking and after being there for approx. 2 hours we saw a faint light in the distance. We all froze in shock and after what seemed like an eternity but was probably less than 30 seconds, the light (size of a golf ball maybe) moved towards us as passed the car at gunshot speed. We were screaming and crying for a good 30 minutes and never went back.

The second I was in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 1999 with a friend and as we were walking through the city at night, we noticed some people staring up at the sky. When I looked up there were 3 sets of 3 lights in a triangle formation rotating. They seemed to be attached to a larger sort of rounded and long triangle shape, but it was hard to tell as it was dark and the city lights made it difficult. We saw it/them for maybe 10-15 seconds and then it was gone. It just disappeared, didn't seem to fly away...just disappeared. I realize this one could be explained away, but it was for sure odd.

Finally, the strangest one for me was when I was at home, and my boyfriend at the time was away on a business trip. I was lying in bed watching tv, when out of the corner of my eye I saw a blue ball. When I turned to look at it, it popped and made a loud noise and disappeared and left a faint burning smell. The ball was about the size of a grapefruit and was bright blue and the surface looked flaming or gaseous in so much that it was moving. This happened at the top of the wall where it meets the ceiling. Both were white and after I went to the spot and examined it and there were no marks. I was the most terrified I have ever been in my life after it happened, and I'm not really sure why. But, for that reason I will never forget it. I have tried to find anyone else who has had a similar experience on the internet, but I have yet to find anything. I have never seen something like that before or since. If anyone has heard of anything like this, I would love to know about it.

Very interesting Melly and thanks for sharing :) ! A couple of comments: The blue ball is reminiscent of ball lightning reports. I've heard several that are nearly identical to yours, where a bright sphere comes floating in through a window or wall and then suddenly vanishes like a soap bubble popping, sometimes with a bit of a crackling and leaving a burnt and/or heavy ozone like smell. The theory for those is that they are some sort of electro-plasma phenomenon. The spook light reminds me of a story my older brother and his wife told me they had back in the 1950s in conjunction with a UFO sighting. Skeptics would probably suggest that it was some kind of bioluminescent insect ( firefly ) or other flying creature that had been exposed to a bioluminescent or phosphorescent compound ( e.g. a bat that had been feeding on fireflies ). However if you have reasons for thinking that a natural explanation couldn't have been the case, then I'm not sure what to suggest. Ufologists theorize that similar sightings could be probes dispatched from some larger craft. The Thailand experience isreminiscentt of the black triangle reports, and may have been some sort of terrestrial aircraft. Without more information, I think it's fair to call all three incidents UAP ( Unidentified Aerial Phenomena ) rather than UFOs ( alien craft ). Personally I like the spook light incident the best. Are there any more details you can provide about that experience? 30 seconds is a long time for most sightings.

The light passed us so quickly I would be lying if I said I could describe it in detail. It was pitch black outside. The only details I could add would be that when we saw the light in the distance it was slowly moving right/left (it was probably 50 feet away- women are notoriously bad a judging distances and I'm the worst), then suddenly moved towards us and disappeared behind the car. Ive heard stories from others who have been out there and seen something, but it was more like a figure according to them.

I suppose the ball lightning is a better explanation of what I saw than something abnormal. I would like to mention though that it was cold out and not storming, and it was on an interior wall which had a hallway on the other side. Not sure if that makes a difference. I really appreciate your input on it.

And of course the flying triangles could've been anything. But the sight of it was definitely something unusual to my eyes. I'm glad that I have had these experiences though because I think without them I would've been much more closed minded through life and I'm glad it's lead me to podcasts/forums like this one.
