Westboro Baptist Church founder dies

Free episodes:

Nice RL thinks that there should be signs saying something along the lines of, "God loves everyone, from gays to mean-spirited pastors. Accept it."
Pragmatic RL thinks that everything about the funeral should just be ignored, rather than give these people any more publicity.
Assertive RL wants LGBTs, service people, and virtually everyone else to treat this bastard's funeral the same way he's treated the funerals of the aforementioned groups.

This was a hateful, evil man. I don't want to sink to his level, but there does seem to be some karmic justice in treating him as he's treated so many others. At the same time, this is truly just one man and his family, who has been elevated to the national level. All they want is publicity, saying and doing anything that will keep them in the spotlight. Why give them what they want? Rather than treat them as a legitimate evil, they should be ignored for being the ridiculous extremists they are. That's the only way they'll disappear.

I won't shed a tear (and I don't know anyone who would, either), but I wonder if responding by propagating more anger and hatred is counterproductive. I guess the best way to stick it to him is to do what you can to make the world a more accepting place for everyone. Let his death give us a reason to mend any damage he and his followers inflicted and let our positive actions be the catalyst that pushes his "church" into obscurity.

well you know if they had turned up to Hannemans funeral the thousands of slayer fans could have solved the problem for us.

I guess they realized it was not a good idea to turn up.

<this thread>
It's what he would have wanted, keeping the dream alive like he knew how to do. except rather than talking shit and wishing ill will on tinternets he went out there and talked SHIT TO YOUR FACE. Thats right he was a doer and I will miss him.

PRAISE HIM. PRAISE Phelps in SATANS name for you have shown us how to hate in hating you. AS YOU HAVE DONE UNTO OTHERS AS WE DO UNTO YOU
PRAISE HIM. PRAISE PHELPS IN SHOWING US HOW TO BECOME BY MAKING US BECOME. PRAISE THE FRIEDKIN EXORCIST GUN TECHNIQUE.
PRAISE HIM. PRAISE MEIER for you have shown us in hoaxing what you saw so we may become like you. PRAISE THE INABILITY TO COMMUNICATE THE INCOMMUNICATABLE
PRAISE HIM. PRAISE PHELPS for you have shown us the ineffable REAGAN PARRALAX how we are drawn together as one in hatred of you. THANK YOU OH PHELPS

I am not a Christian. In my faith we teach peace love good will. We teach to live in harmony in the good earth. we teach that hate and intolerance is an evil to be shunned.
Charlie Chaplin spoke well on the dignity of man. We would be wise to recall his words.

I wish there was less like Phelps.. Please listen what Chaplin says.. and recall we can live without hate.. the hate of men will die.. We are men.. recall that..
And so a man of hate dies.. His karma will dictate what his next life will bring. let us not worry for the life misspent in hate but let us dedicate our own lives to doing good.
and by doing so we earn our place in the light.
BLESSED BE

Yes/No, I think it's important to reflect on people who bring hate into the world, so we can reassert our own unifying, community values of compassion, understanding, respect, dignity and concern. When the people who promote hate die, you need to have the faith based communities that spawned them, alongside those who detested him, come together to forgive him.

I agree competely with the other point nameless made regarding the perpetuation of hate. You have to feel sorry and sad for such people who wasted their lives living inside a prison of anger and hatred & not hate them. The wisest thing I ever heard about evil bastards is that you need to feel sorry for them, and that they must need a lot of love from the rest of us; because, with all the hate they spew, they must lead such sad, miserable lives.

While I don't always live up to it, I still think it's better to kill people with kindness, or to at least feedback their own professed values right back at them.

Understanding & acceptance before judgment & condemnation.
