To me 3 things..
1.bigfoot. no evidence. And so many hoaxs..
2.cupacadra. most sightings turn out to be mangy dogs wolves foxs ect...
3.crop circles. Let's face it manmade artwork...

Close on the heels is mars odditys that are really rocks...

Yeah for me that whole bunch of garbage that Richard Hoagland advocates would be number one on my list, the way he manipulates old photographs and exploits things like noise and balance to make something kind of look like something and then a bunch of nuts debate what it is, like a paranormal Rorschach Test, only not as interesting. That's my number 1.

Number 2. would have to be the whole channeling thing, if ever something obviously came from the mind of a human being it would be channeled material, it's never anything but completely unverifiable, fluffy, new age horseshit.

I'm leaving my 3rd slot open for a variety of topics, bigfoot, chupacabra, the fact that I've never heard a remote viewer make a single correct prediction that wasn't easily extrapolated from things we already knew or speculated about and that their list of excuses about why their so called "science" doesn't work is far more developed than the actual science itself. Why aren't remote viewers being utilized by oil companies to find oil deposits, why aren't there remote viewers being deployed on every battlefield and accompanying every police SWAT team so that they know ahead of time what they're getting into, why isn't there one single verifiable case of a remote viewer helping the police find missing persons or kidnap victims. I'll tell you why, because it isn't real anywhere except in the mind of those who choose to be gulled by the charlatans selling that crap. The list goes on and on when it comes to certain aspects of the paranormal that are a complete waste of time.

Being that I am on record as saying I'm game for anything paranormal as I don't necessarily require tangible proof of something to accept that it may exist I will say that any reported paranormal event that involves iinter-species ntercourse, messages given, gifts and/or food given, abductions and implants; basically anything that includes direct physical contact I would be quite skeptical on.

I used to be a MUFON field investigator. I quit. I used to subscribe and listen to countless podcasts on the subject. I stopped. I rarely look at forums or blogs anymore. I stopped star gazing and actively looking for them. I stopped acknowledging them. They have eased off as I have eased off. It is better for me now. I may turn the heat back up one day but for now I am comfortable at an arms reach.

Bible mysteries / Bible code stuff - not intending to cause a religious debate, but to me the Bible is nothing more than old chopped up, edited and re-edited passed down pseudohistory and mythology

I guess I don't find any particular topic a total waste of time. It's more a matter of prioritization and what should be taken more or less seriously than other stuff. The paranormal and ufos have become ingrained in modern culture in ways that range from conspiracy theories to comedy. It is so pervasive that it's difficult imagining the worldview of someone who has been completely insulated from it in all its various forms. Whether we find some particular aspect of one thing or another a waste of time is largely dependent on our expectations of what we want it to do for us. I'm not religious, but the Bible has more than one story that fits in with the paranormal. A pillar of fire in the sky by night and glowing beings from the heavens, which in those days meant the sky, not some la la land that people today think of as "Heaven". Mythology in general is filled with much more. I find that stuff fascinating. Then there's all the books, movies, and games that merge these topics together to produce fabulous works of art and entertainment. I just love this stuff ! But the real cool thing about it is that I know, and many other people know, it's not all just fiction and fantasy.
 
Almost 2 years after my post above, and I think that after tonight I'm going to have to add coast2coastam to the waste of time list. Noory had a psychologist on who claimed to have telekinetic power and was using it to cheat casinos, and was selling cheezy self-hypnosis sounding CDs and field trips to Vegas based on his training sessions, all while selling it as "positive energy" generated by the heart. He said it's supported by scientific experiments, none of which I was able to locate on a Google search or on the website he hawks his CDs on, but if his scientific knowledge is any indicator of it's accuracy, his use of quantum woo as an explanation strongly suggests it isn't worth the paper it's printed on, but Noory was lapping this stuff up in giant gulps.

Then to outdo himself on that load of BS ( IMO ), he had Michael Horn, promoter of the Billy Meier contactee story ( or hoax, depending on your view ), and again Noory was lapping up. Seriously this has made me loose what little respect I had left for the show. It's just amazing that anyone with a little bit of critical thinking and investigative effort would fall for either of these stories, let alone an experienced interviewer. How many more believers in this nonsense have just been added to the ranks? All I can do is shake my head, and hope Chorus Entertainment takes my request for them to get the Paracast up instead!

I'm still waiting for irrefutable evidence of any aspect of the paranormal I can think of.I've seen something I can't explain but I'm sure there will be a rational explanation.I live in hope that at some point I'm going to be amazed!:-)
 
Coast to Coast has always been about entertainment. It has never been about true discovery of paranormal or ufo subjects. It was just that Art Bell presented those topics better than Noory could ever dream of.

Besides, C2C has a captive audience of those who were up through the night.

I think I would need to agree with you Goggs. For a while I thought his work was quite good, but once he started this meditation stuff and the contact through love and harmony I took a few steps back. How does a doctor from a random town suddenly become the spokesperson on ufology to oil tycoons and the elite. If he really was making a dent in the secrecy then it's only because whoever is in the shadows are allowing it to happen, and if it's being allowed to happen it's because it wont benefit us in the slightest.
 
For me : 1. The later kerry kasidy interviews with her project camelot, most of the work now I think sounds like a bad Sci fi tv series with the people she interviews so I wont touch it.

2. Stan romanek , the only thing he is good at is being a con man, he has a good imagination and that's about it.

3. End of the world prophecies, if someone gives you an end date give them a phone number to the nearest mental health clinic to seek help.

I have many more, ufology is filled with people out to sell a book and gain some publicity. I'll always sit on the fence when it comes to ufology, I will keep an open mind and try to absorb as much information I can and look at it from both sides. But without "evidence" to back your story up I am afraid it will be another story of an experience no one can validate or prove. I could go on and on with so many people who I feel have been caught out but it would be pretty big and the 3 I have chosen are ones which just came to mind.
 
I try not to dismiss too many topics, and I have only one in the "immediate dismiss" bin. That would be Crop Circles.

However I am fascinated that human-made artwork can directly lead to a constructed belief system in some people. "The power of Art compels me."
 
Wasting time is underrated. How it's wasted makes a big diff.
I still love Nessie but is there a crypto animal in the lake? Probably in Loch Raven ten minutes from me as much as there is in Loch Ness across the pond.
I'm disinclined to believe in ghosts and reincarnation (although totally possible, why should it be so?). We have no bearing on the world of nonlife as living beings as far as I'm concerned that's all anyone's guess. I suppose that I still find it compelling though.
As far as the craziest guff out there that should be on SyFy (what the F is that silly crap-it's scifi) is weirdly entertaining and should definitely not be taken seriously, :DI vote for Corey Goode+David Wilcock.

I too have big doubts about crop circles. Estimates say 95% are man made. It's the other 5% that are troubling.
