Paranormal Novice
Dear Gene and David,
Where do I start? Gents, you guys are a double edged sword. On one hand you occasionally ask a hard question which needs to be asked but most of the time you ask questions which are directly related to your personal opinion of your own personal abilities.
Firstly, What is a technologist? Is this someone who can use Google and has a couple of friends who sell consumer gadgets? Take it from my perspective. I studied Aerospace Engineering and my thesis was on ICBMs and Launch vehicles. I now design, install and commission Control Systems for Nuclear, Oil, Gas and Coal Power Stations (as well as many other industries). I have designed RF Electronics, Software Packages, network protocols and some microprocessor based devices. So when I hear someone say that they are a "technologist" because they know how to use an image application, or a new camera or maybe the latest Macintosh Marketing information, it seriously makes my stomach turn. And I know many people who are well beyond my knowledge base. Hearing you guys talk about how you guys have so much expertise in technology makes me shake my head and I am but one of many listeners who are in the R&D departments of the world's leading technologies.
And yes I know. I could be a garbage collector with a computer and a great imagination but the fact is that I am not.
The thing that separates me from many of my colleagues is that I do not limit myself to the boundaries of my academic education. I too investigate the stories that are beyond what I can explain. This is what draws me to them. I do not like things that I cannot understand. I have not seen a UFO, Ghost or anything except a few vague unexplainable incidents. But I know people that I trust and they have and I believe them.
Just because you can replicate something using photoshop, doesn't mean that the image HAS been done that way. Just because you could throw a ball in the air and take a photo, doesn't mean that every photo is a ball.
An animal can leave a track and a human who is an expert at tracks can reproduce this track. This doesn't make all animal tracks fake. We are happy to be wowed by your knowledge of photoshop or another application but please do not let your ego blur your judgement.
I know for a fact that you have done this to one investigator who is genuine. They truly are very close to some answers (or at least more questions) and have information that can help us understand at least one side of the UFO phenomena and you did nothing but tell everyone how great you are.
I don't know you guys personally (and I know I am putting you both in the same box here which is a little wrong of me) but I feel that you both were once something special in the paranormal/UFO community but have faded into obscurity without the acknowledgement that you think you deserve. But you guys are seriously destroying what you have left with each episode.
Yes there are more scam artists, mentally disturbed individuals, attention seekers and CD/Book sellers then there are authentic researchers but that one authentic person that you sweep under the rug with the rest could be the one with the truth.
You have an obligation to us as your listeners to do your best to give us the facts and present us with unbiased information. You also have an obligation to do a little research on the interviewees before you tear them down besides just looking for areas where you can tear them apart. Scepticism is healthy as long as it isn't biased by your egos.
And please.. stop trying to make your show a revenue stream. It will just stuff you guys up in the end. Get jobs where you are comfortable and make this stuff free without advertisements (and product placement.. yes we notice). We need a show where there is a critical eye but not where the motivation is to tear people down. Lies will unravel themselves.
And get that guy Andrew Basiago on.. this would be the only guy I would condone a full scale bullshit-a-thon.
Peace, Gadz
