What Software do you use to document cases?

As a software developer and person who has a keen interest in the paranormal (mainly ufology) I am interested in what people use to research and document cases they are interested in. I am currently writing some software to (hopefully) aid paranormal research and will be putting it up on Github soon as I have a working Alpha as open source software (coded in Java) for researchers and developers to work together to create a truly bespoke yet open research program. Is there any programmers on the forum that would like to contribute to the project?

Also what software do you currently use to tie research together? Personally I have been using Microsofts One Note, it has some really cool and quick features for dividing documents up into sub sections.

Just FYI: Microsoft has made versions of OneNote available for Windows, Windows 8, Windows Phone, Mac, iOS and Android. So just about anyone except a BlackBerry or Linux user, can try it out (it's free).

Hi Mr Steinberg. Oh wow thats pretty cool for MS, shame about the Linux support though I am sure they are missing a trick there.

I feel warmer and fuzzier towards Microsoft since the new CEO took over and decided to run the company in a saner fashion. Indeed, they delivered a really top-notch Office suite for the iPad while still working on a true touch version for Windows tablets. Microsoft realizes that software and services mean profits, and they are more platform agnostic than they used to be.

Yeah I agree, Microsoft have definitely changed their stance in recent years, they even opened up their .NET development framework. With regards to the site you linked, i have a half written system locally on my pc which is similar in concept. One of the features I wanted to implement was a google maps feature that allowed people to pin sightings and tag the date and description, to hopefully see if any visual patterns emerge on a particular date (markers could be filtered by date etc). Maybe it would be worthwhile trying to get a few people together to push some projects forward?
