Hi. Since switching computers my mediacam program I used to record stuff off my screen is corrupt, and I no longer have my key and serial number to re register. I was wondering if there are any good free screen recording programs out there, so I don't have to spend money again. Thanks.

I don't know about general screen recorders, but if you want a good streaming media recorder, "WM Recorder" is a great little app I use to record 'unrecordable' streaming windows media. (A friend tells me the latest full version should be available as a torrent, but I wouldn't know about that...) There is also a realmedia version of the same app. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for though.

Hi there,

This program is great and FREE. Saves video as AVI or SWF (Shockwave flash files)

CamStudio - Screen Recorder

Cheers!

A long time ago, when I was a gamer *cough cough*, I used a program called Fraps. I think it had a pretty good framerate, because it was used to record game footage, so it should work fine for every day stuff... a good comp helps too.

Thanks. It's not free, but a lot cheaper than the ones I been looking at, which are over 100 dollars!

There's alot of funny gaming videos people make. The WoW Leeroy Jenkins one got mentioned on Jeopardy even.

Maybe you can also try other screen recorder. The one I used an help you record any streaming video and audio files on computer with decent quality, what you got is exactly the same as the original video played on computer. I often use it to record screen action to make instructional video. And it can help you export the recording to standard video format file.

I think theres a free program to pull all your registration numbers off of the computer you switched from if you still have access to it. A bit different route, but if you liked the program you use to use it may be worth a try.
