In acknowledgement of my first book review I decided to add on to it by starting a thread in which I am asking paracast readers to determine their psychological attributes by comparing themselves to the characters in the Winnie-the-pooh books. As I noted in my review I am a huge Winnie the pooh fan and Winnie-the-pooh and house at pooh corner were the first two e-books I downloaded, furthermore I scanned and “pdf’ed” the pooh perplex, the tao of pooh and the te of piglet, pooh and the philosophers and pooh and the psychologists. With pooh, one can never go wrong. Even as a young man I “got” pooh and to this day I tend to see other people’s personalities in a Winnie-the-pooh context (and according to a google search I am not the only one) and now I’m giving paracast forum members a chance to do the same. I would ask that even though many of you will see such characteristics in many people in this forum…including me…to avoid any hurt feelings; I think it’s best to leave any “outing” of anybody to yourself. And I will start with myself but first a primer on the pooh characters (as if you didn’t really know)I may leave some out feel free to add your own in any self-diagnosis and refer to my review for other attributes https://www.theparacast.com/forum/book-reviews/the_world_of_pooh.3/
1. Pooh- humble, a self-professed bear of little brain. Tends to think with his stomach and this does get him in trouble from time to time. Probably has an eating disorder. Friendly to all, naïve, non-judgmental. Generous even grudgingly with his own honey ad exceedingly helpful and thoughtful
2. Piglet- Exceedingly nervous, probably has several anxiety disorders, tends to go along with most anybody’s wishes, somewhat wishy-washy BUT will assert himself or rise to acts of heroism when under duress
3. Christopher Robin- Schizophrenic in that he thinks all the characters here can talk, clingy, nosy in that he always has to stick his nose in all the animals business, can’t leave them alone to be themselves but then they do occupy his world. Best friend to pooh and piglet who compete for his affections which probably empowers Christopher. like owl and rabbit he tends to think that the animals need him but in reality they do get along just fine without Christopher robin’s constant butting in.
4. Rabbit- Along with owl/wol tends to think that the forest cannot possible function without him, needs to be the center of attention and is confident that everything with crumble without his taking charge, even though he will step down to Christopher robin and gives grudging respect to owl for cognitive abilities, always busy being important.
5. Owl/Wol probably pseudo-intellectual, he does know stuff but that’s because most all the animals know so little, he is more than happy to force himself on others and to show off his intellectualism with little to no prompting. Patient, more so than rabbit becauses he knows that no one else can possibly be him and so he takes it with good graces
6. Eeyore-clinically depressed, grumpy, low self-esteem, always needs reassurances that he matters, takes offense at most anything, he is also pragmatic because he knows that most any anion taken in any situation is futile
7. Tigger-without question suffering from adhd, makes piglet’s hyperactivity look tame by comparison. Indecisive and unsure in that it usually takes several stabs at things to determine what he likes best. Child-like in his behavior as he most often associates with people/animals much younger than himself
8. Kanga- overbearing, mothering, can’t really let go of things. Although arguabally the most grounded of the animals next to pooh, possible Madonna complex. One of the more sensible animals and gives good advice, certainly more so than owl or rabbit. It’s possible this fact makes her resentful but that has never been shown
9. Roo- like tigger hyperactive, all too willing to get into trouble without much concern of personal safety or the impact on others. A tigger in the making will probably never hold a decent job
Well that list is not inclusive and there are others I probably missed but as for myself . I have a lot of Pooh in me, in that I am pretty happy-go-lucky and down to earth humble, but at about 150 lbs. soaking wet and topping out at five foot nine, I don’t have any eating disorders, I am perfectly willing to let others take the lead in most things, I’m much more of a follower than a leader, but VERY picky at who I’ll follow, I do prefer the lone wolf position which is closer to eeyore. While I certainly don’t share eeyore’s low self-esteem, I do prefer being left alone (and complaining that people are doing so) I do tend to get in very black moods and often enjoy it, in fact I resent any attempt at being brought out of it until I’m good and ready. I can during these times be very skeptical, sarcastic, and sardonic but again I don't really force it on people, I mostly keep it too myself but if engaged I will share my feelings with others. Lastly I see quite a bit of owl in myself as I do soak up a lot of information, much of it of little use to myself and while I don’t push it on anybody, if called upon I am also only too happy to dispense with any information I may have. What else am I going to do with it? also I tend to be overly analytical and can easily and unwittingly rube goldberg the simplest principal[ /COLOR]
