Although I didn't think Beckley was all that bad, one thing that kind of bugs me about him is this "Mr. UFO" business. What's up with that? Is this a self-inflicted title? In any case, I don't think he deserves it. I wonder who YOU think deserves the title. In the poll I went through previous Paracast shows and picked a few I thought might merit the title. I may have missed some, so you say who. Criteria: Must be alive. Must have contributed to the UFO field meaningfully. No one whose 'experiences' are their PRIMARY contribution (e.g. Strieber). Not enough room to name everyone, so add in a post if you want.

Note: You only get TEN choices. That's it. I picked them from past Paracast shows. You could easily put twenty people down if there were enough room. To quote slashdot.org (a site for Linux dweebs, primarily): "Don't complain about lack of options. You've got to pick a few when you do multiple choice. Those are the breaks...This whole thing is wildly inaccurate...If you're using these numbers to do anything important, you're insane."

I think I remember him saying that Ace Frehley of KISS called him that. I just don't have any interest in looking for the old show and listening for that information. It's one of the early Paracast shows.

I haven't listened to the recent show with him yet. But isn't it hard, just from the get-go, to take someone seriously with a WEBTV email address??

Also shouldnt Timothy Beckley be in this list incase anyone actually does think he is the real Mr UFO.
Actually i feel kind of sorry for him with all this bashing, he seems like a nice guy

I voted for Stan Friedman though I think that Timothy Good has a good claim to the title as well. Both have been in the field for years, and both have had books published with a much higher visibility than Timothy Beckley ... in my opinion.

[Just thinking out loud ... maybe Stan Friedman should be "Dr UFO", and Timothy Good could be Mr UFO (although Tim Good is a trained classical musician ... so is there a title given to musicians and only musicians alone???) ... ???]

Stanton Friedmans done more than enough to deserve that title IMO. Dude is the Great Grandfather of Ufology after all.

I always think Vallee when I think of UFO's. Not only has he written a great deal and is a great guest, but he seems pretty well informed and credible, imho.

I think we should collect all these people into a big hall, pump out some 'Run DMC', and then get them to have a dance off for the title.
My money would definately be on Friedman, I heard he's dynamite on the dance floor particularly at the human worm.
Having said that, I also heard Gene's 'Go robo' dance is legendary...

Vallee because he takes in the high strangeness and asks important questions. He doesn't invalidate physical traces or any possibility. While that leaves more unsatisfying questions, it seems the best option for dealing with strangeness. We can't ignore some things just because they don't feel comfortable.

My viewpoint:

Among living UFOlogists, Vallee. Friedman is a close second, and IMO Bruce and Rich are in a tie for third.

I actually voted for Dr. Vallee. As a scientist myself I have a problem with the conclusions that Stan makes. Stan takes things that are hypothesis and accepts them as fact based on his personal belief. Vallee is at least a little more willing to say "we don't know" as a valid answer to a question, and leave it at that.
