Wierd pic on Pravda

Paranormal Novice
Pravda has published a series of (areal or satellite) photos, claiming them to be NASA photos of the surface of Mars (via the photo blog ochevidec['eyewitness' I think].net). Unfortunately, Pravda is more "tabloid" sometimes than the Western tabloids--not even a pretense of attribution or fact-checking.

Of note is the round thing that appears to cast a shadow, circled in red. Anyone able to tell if the anomaly was later added? [edit: Or if the photo is even of Mars?]

Is there any way of zooming in on the area in question?, apart from saving the picture and then zooming in with some sort of photo application (which to me would be a bit silly since you'll end up with pixellation).

I can't really tell whether or not the anomaly is an anomaly or not without seeing the area properly. Maybe I'm missing something here or on the Pravda website???

I don't see anything that I would even remotely consider an anomaly.

Thats cos the bit in the circle is incredibly small.

Mind you though thats how most anomalies are found. You take a picture, look at a bit thats a bit funny (not knowing enough geology or geophysics), blow it up to a monstrous size et voila, anomaly city.

Its pretty amazing that if you do this you find all sorts of straight edges and structures that look like cubes and things ... though I could be wrong in this case :D

Silly it is then, b/c this is the only source I know of. Here's an enlargement I did with GIMP portable:

Assuming the structures seen are crevasses, the light source appears to be from the upper-left. If so, the shadow cast should be to the lower-right, but it's not. The shadow is to the upper-left, so I thk a crater should not be ruled out as a possibility.

But I'm not an image expert, and understand Biedny is .

When he wants to be. He stopped weighing in on the Mars image stuff long long ago. Personally, I see nothing here that gets my underwear in a bunch. It could be anything from a rock to a crater. If it is a real image, and it probably is, then it will probably turn out to be some form of natural geology.
