That report happens to link to another story, about Presley's announced retirement in 2012, where it was stated that "According to media reports, Presley joked he would spend the royalties the song earned on investigating cropcircles and UFOs, a phenomena with which he had become fascinated."
For those who care about the trivia, "Wild Thing" was written by composer Chip Taylor, the brother of Jon Voight (hence Angelina Jolie's uncle). Chip's real name is James Wesley Voight, and he also wrote such songs as "Angel of the Morning." Mrs. Steinberg and I came into contact with Chip briefly in the 1980s, when my wife recorded demos at North Lake Sound, a studio he once co-owned near New York City.
