Will the Federal Reserve Cause a Civil War?

With protesters in France entering a seventh day of strikes and demonstrations against draconian austerity measures, many political observers in the U.S. are now wondering how long it will be before similar scenes unfold on American streets, with even Time Magazine now conceding that the prospect of a civil war in the States “doesn’t seem that far fetched”.


As we highlighted yesterday in a piece that was later picked up by the Drudge Report, it’s only a matter of time before Americans are hit with almost identical austerity measures to those that have caused the French to set up fuel blockades, stage running battles with riot police, halt air and rail travel, and virtually shut down some areas of the country.

The question remains – how will Americans react if the Obama administration pushes ahead with its plan to seize all private 401(k) pensions, which will be swallowed up by the Social Security Administration under the banner of mandatory Guaranteed Retirement Accounts? How will Americans react to the upcoming announcement that the Federal Reserve will further eviscerate the value of the dollar by purchasing junk assets from big banks at exorbitant prices with money printed out of thin air?

Time Magazine, which as a guardian of the establishment would normally be expected to disparage the potential of mass civil disobedience, actually lends the notion some spotlight by linking to a Zero Hedge story which paraphrased economic forecaster David Rosenberg, who warns that the Fed’s plan for more quantitative easing, “positions US society one step closer to civil war if not worse.”

So, Obama is planning to seize everyone's 401k and put it into social security, which on it's face is socialism, stealing all the money people worked hard to put aside for all of their careers so he can redistribute it, and the Fed is about to inflate our currency, printing up $100 billion a month for the next ten months. Prices will skyrocket, and all our retirement savings will have been stolen by Obama... Anyone see a possible revolt?

Anyhoo,....to the topic of discussion.

I can't see the Feds swiping up everyones 401K's, even in a national emergency I couldn't see that. That would precipitate a national revolt, ruin any chances of the Democrats EVER holding any office again, and the Fed government would become so weakened we would cease to be the worlds only super power left.
I don't see the ultra-rich elite letting that happen. They would stand to lose thier ill gotten money. Plus they'd lose thier gardners, and butlers, cooks, drivers, cabana boys, pool cleaners, and other assorted doormats.
I don't see the CIA, the NSA, and any other black ops government unit letting that happen. It would mess up their power plays and retirement plans.
I don't see the Wall Street vampires letting it happen. Vampires need victims to feed on don't they?

I see another Teabanger disinformation ploy in this, but I may be wrong too.

Well it sounded pretty wild to me too, but that's what I'm reading he's up to, and in more than one place too. I'm finding that in several political commentator's columns. I'm trying to chase it down, but you are right, if he does that he's toast, and so are the Dems in general.

That's not a link to Time magazine, that's a link to an Alex Jones site. Not exactly the same thing. Also the referenced "article" seems to be a commentary and not a researched piece. We shouldn't go all looney toons Tea Party. Just as an observer from the outside, the political climate in the United States is frightening. How an ignorant person like Christine O'Donnell can possibly be considered for office is beyond me.

No problem. Whoever programmed that site has created it to be misleading since it looks like it's a link to Time. It also isn't really an article, but a commentary. It's like taking something that Glenn Beck says as fact.

You're finding it all over biased conservative sites, and there's that Alex Jones Prison Planet site again. What are actual news sites saying, like say NPR, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.

I understand you don't live in this country, which, I suppose, is why you regard those you cited as the "actual news sites." They very often do not report what's really going on out there, and choose to ignore certain topics and stories. I also note you are strongly inclined toward the Left, which indicates a significant bias evident in your recent posts.

I would not care to get into a Left v. Right argument here. I just wanted to ask a question and get other members' take on the story. Preferably that of members living here in America who might be affected by it.

Yes, it's quite a mess and a global one at that. I think it's helpful to remember that all the world's economies run on fiat currency, that is, money not backed up by anything at all, save the full faith and credit of the governments, which is increasingly losing credibility worldwide. Historically fiat currency has always been a loser, and subject to nefarious manipulation, particularly where a private central bank is able to get control of the money supply, as it has here in the US.

When that happens the financial elite in a given country are unable to resist the temptation to manipulate economies to their advantage without regard for what it does to the rest of the population, and I believe we are seeing that coming to a head here. I don't pretend to fully understand it all but I do know that fiat currency, the private central bank, and fractional reserve banking have a lot to do with the mess we are in.

No worries. I don't want to tell anyone what news sources to look at. There are always biases. I like to think that I'm left leaning when it comes to social issues like gay rights and freedom of religion, and that I'm more centre when it comes to fiscal issues. But I need to keep in mind that centre for Canada is left for the USA.

I try to avoid it because politics are like religon many people are so self rightous and take "talking points" from the sources they like and blindly attack sources they don't As an American let me say this. THANK GOD for Fox! Thank God for PBS! Why? Because we need as much information and conversation as we can get. I watch the right wing Fox and I watch the liberal NPR and listen to PBS.

I watched in HORROR as idiots on the left wanted to censor the Tea Party and paint them as white racist. Yet, when somebody asked about the black panther idiot with the club in front of a voting booth they were told "Don't get hysterical." What? HYPOCRITES. I listened in shame as the right wing glorified George Bush for bombing men women and children in two nations. I agreed when the liberals said "what are you doing with those billions of dollars. However, when Obama kept the war going the right wing started to worry about the defict and the left wing said "We can't just leave!" That would be irresponsible.

I listen in amusment and some irritation as somebody says "Sarah Palin is an idiot." Really? Ever had dinner with her? Ever actually met her? Do ya really and truly know this person expcept for political sound bites and attack adds from her opponents? Same with the O'donnell lady. Who tells ya they are idiots? They may be. I don't know. But that's the point! I don't know!

I watched in horror as the right wing threatened to burn the Koran. I watched in equal horror as the left said "We defend the right to burn the flag" It's free speech. But, no but Hell no you can't burn the Koran! Ya shouldn't burn either one but as an American I understand you have the "Right" to buy a flag or a Koran or a bible for that matter and burn the hell out of it if that's what ya want to do.

So, please just think before ya buy into the right/left "we are the rightous and they are the idiots" bullshit. Also, with respect to Angel and Paul Kimball and others who "chime" in from time to time. As an American I have watched family members "march off to war" for this nation. I have recited the pledge and sang the National Anthem. I have watched Old Glory wave with a lump in my throat and I have voted and defended causes that were not always popular. You may live "right across the border" But, beleive me that doens't make you a United States citizen and you can't possibly (sorry ya just can't) have the same investment in my nation that I have. So, go easy on the political rhetoric and take care of your own nation. I respect and appreciate Canada. But, I don't tell em how to run their nation.

I totally agree with you. Even though we're on the same continent, the divide in political views in our respective countries is quite vast.

As opposed to biased liberal sites? I think it's fair to say there's a good deal of bias on both sides, and by the way, the news organizations you mention are the most leftist biased ones there are. I guess if it doesn't agree with your particular bias it's got to be false.
