I actually know what sallylizzy is talking about. It's only a question of different audio equipment but when I downloaded a DMR episode with Gene I also noticed that the audio had a certain different timbre/tone etc and it almost sounded like a different person speaking.

Ah. Our downloads are 64K mono, because that's what the network employs. It's adequate, but little more.

Ohh damn i thought only i noticed that! Must be the setup because i couldn´t recognize his voice either on DMR.
I know what it is! All radio hosts are self-serving egomaniacs and always make sure their guest's sound quality is poor compared to their own. Therefore, when Don has Gene on his show, he makes Gene sound bad, and when Gene has Don on his show......erm.....Don sounds the same. Damn. Didn't pan out like I'd hoped.
