This Week's Episode: Gene and cohost Tim Swartz introduce Elly Flippen, author of “Conjunction.World: A Journey Through the Mirror.” She was born into the family of artist, astrologer, psychic, and remote viewer Ingo Swann. Through her time with Ingo, her uncle, Elly gained unique insights into his creative processes, spontaneous psychic experiences, meticulous personality, and the lively community of visitors who frequented his home. She has been deeply involved in preserving and chronicling his multifaceted legacy as an author, creator, and pioneer in perception and consciousness exploration. She writes: “My uncle…was a man of mystery and intrigue. As one of the US Government’s top psychic spies, he held secrets that few knew and even fewer understood. One day, he confided in me with a hushed tone and a glint in his eye: ‘We are not alone on this planet.’ This wasn’t entirely new to me. I had encountered numerous inexplicable events, but I couldn’t believe they were actually real.” She adds: “I dove in headfirst, compiling theories about non-human entities. From potential extraterrestrial origins to interdimensional beings, I unraveled a complex narrative about advanced technology that could account for the anomalous aerial and aquatic vehicles we have witnessed…” Flippen manages the X account (@estateingoswann) and the websites for Ingo Swann and Conjunction.World with the hope of inspiring future generations to embark on their own journeys into the marvelous wonders of the human biomind.

After The Paracast — Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers: A return visit from Elly Flippen, the niece of the late artist, astrologer, psychic, and remote viewer Ingo Swann. In the course of this visit with Gene and cohost Tim Swartz, she talks about her own experiences, including her encounter with a strange being who drove around in a clean white car. She mentions the legendary Project Xerox project for SRI International, and the possibility that Swann and others remote viewed what is regarded as “speculative technology.” Also on the agenda: Plans hatched by the infamous Robertson Panel, formed in 1953, to discredit the UFO phenomenon. Their agenda included infiltrating UFO groups to spread disinformation, something that may still be happening. Flippen is author of “Conjunction.World: A Journey Through the Mirror,” a book that recounts her own journey and the work of Swann in the psychic world. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Vassar College and her MBA from Columbia University, and wrote, edited, and provided the art direction for the book “Stardust Highways: Ingo Swann’s Art of Entertaining,” which showcases not only his artistic abilities but also his flair for cooking and entertaining. Flippen manages the X account (@estateingoswann) and the websites for Ingo Swann and Conjunction.Worldwith the hope of inspiring future generations to embark on their own journeys into the marvelous wonders of the human biomind.

Hiding in Plain Sight
By Gene Steinberg

The recent flurry over the appearance of strange drones in New Jersey and other parts of the Eastern United States sent hearts aflutter among some who chase after the flying saucers. Are these, in fact, offworld vehicles of some sort?

Government responses were predictable. They all had conventional explanations. Some were indeed drones, even the ones that were comparable in size to an SUV. Others were airplanes, some were stars. It was the usual stuff about misinterpretation and nothing unusual.

The fact that the Pentagon held classified briefings on the matter made things doubly curious, however. I suppose it is possible that the drones were, in fact, designed for a clandestine military purpose, or perhaps represented surveillance from other countries. I suppose.

The logic behind those assumptions seems shaky. If the military wanted to test drones for one purpose or another, there are plenty of places across the vastness of the US where flights can occur without attracting undue attention, or any attention. That it happened in a populous region of the country didn’t make a lot of sense.

As to foreign intrusions, that would be a violation of the borders of a sovereign country, and thus could subject the offenders to retaliation, including the embarrassment of having their drones shot down.

Well, maybe not the latter. As with that surveillance balloon sent to the U.S. by China in 2023, actually shooting it down presented a potential hazard to people and things on the surface. So despite complaints from some elements of the media, it wasn’t done till the balloon crossed over to the ocean.

Regardless of the source of the drones, it was clear the authorities in New York State didn’t get the memo. On the evening of Friday December 13, 2024 (a fitting date), Stewart International Airport, located some 60 miles from New York City, had its runways shut down after a drone was spotted by the Federal Aviation Administration. The state’s chief executive, Governor Kathy Hochul, demanded Federal assistance to deal with the problem.

But what if there was something indeed paranormal or otherworldly at the cause? How would the authorities deal with such an intrusion without attracting much attention?

A possibility is to flood the zone with conventional drones and encourage the media to fill up the airwaves with stories about them. With all the confusion, the real phenomenon would be overwhelmed or obscured.

In other words, the powers-that-be allowed it to hide in plain sight.

But, as longtime observers of the UFO enigma over the years can attest, misinformation has been part and parcel of the quest for facts.

Consider the 1953 Robertson Panel, long infamous in the field. So it was a “scientific committee” headed up by one Howard P. Robertson, hence it’s name. Recommended by the CIA, it was designed to explore the presence of UFOs in the wake of the Washington, D.C. UFO flap in the summer of 1952.

It concluded that UFOs didn’t represent a threat to national security, with the danger that public interest in the phenomenon might overwhelm military communications as people called in their sightings. Since, they concluded, most sightings had conventional explanations, the best approach was to take steps to reduce public interest.

Some of those steps allegedly included infiltrating private research groups and overwhelm them with disinformation, which didn’t seem to be a sensible approach. Would it really make sense to draw attention to the subject, unless the plan involved frustrating them all with useless information.

Such an approach might have even been behind some of the better known UFO hoaxes.

Consider the MJ-12 documents, received in the 1980s in film form, which described a supposed Pentagon committee designed to investigate the Roswell incident and other possible crashes.

It didn’t take long for experts on the formatting of government documents to poke holes in their appearance. In passing, one would think that people who wanted to spread false information about such matters would actually take the time to make sure they were prepared in such a way as to conform to how real government materials were prepared.

It was a foolish, careless mistake.

So who was responsible?

Some speculate that the MJ-12 scheme was hatched by an Air Force intelligence agent, one Richard Doty, working in concert with UFO investigator and author William L. Moore.

Now as most of you know, Moore was a co-author of the first major book on the Roswell crash, “The Roswell Incident,” which he worked on with Charles Berlitz. The grandson of the founder of the Berlitz Language Schools, Charles was involved in three paranormal books, which also included “The Bermuda Triangle” and “The Philadelphia Experiment.”

In passing, I knew Charles in those days. He always spoke to me with a twinkle in his eyes, and often said, “I’m as honest as the day is long,” which was a clear indication that he was in it mainly for the fun, not to mention royalties from the sale of his books.

As to Moore, his reputation in the UFO field was shattered when, at a 1989 MUFON UFO conference, he confessed to being involved in disinformation activities in partnership with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI). The target was one Paul Bennewitz, an businessman and UFO investigator.

The disinformation campaign was so horrendous as to send Bennewitz to the psychiatric ward of a hospital. Pretty nasty stuff.

Now Moore has not actually confirmed involvement in MJ-12. But its connection to the Roswell investigation is obvious.

Alas, one of the original Roswell investigators, and a major contributor the Berlitz/Moore book, author and lecturer Stanton Friedman, maintained almost to his dying breath that MJ-12 was the real article,

Now it is possible there was a genuine group within the recesses of the Pentagon that did focus on Roswell and similar episodes. So the MJ-12 hoax was hatched to divert attention from the real thing.

Other than perhaps the drone flap, are there any other recent potential attempts at disinformation?

Let’s not forget that no less than Luis Elizondo, a former member of a Pentagon UAP study group, made some curious claims in his best-selling book, “Imminent: Inside the Pentagon’s Hunt for UFOs.” In addition to purportedly being a member of Project Stargate, the military and SRI attempt to explore remote viewing and other psychic phenomena, he maintained that the Roswell crash did involve extraterrestrials.

Only the book doesn’t exactly provide sources for that information. It’s just some claims without evidence. And since he is still covered under national security from revealing all he knows, one wonders whether he threw out such claims under the direction of his former bosses.

And, of course, to sell books.

Naturally I’m speculating. I do not know for certain that Elizondo is still doing the Pentagon’s bidding, but I’m sure he couldn’t admit to such a thing even if he was.

But if the answers to the UFO mystery are really hiding in plain sight, it’s not unreasonable to expect the authorities to engage in these and other shenanigans to obscure the truth. Which, I suppose, is still out there.
