10th Anniversary Listener Roundtable: Ask Away

Free episodes:

Gene Steinberg

Forum Super Hero
Staff member
With Goggs Mackay's help, we've assembled a team of forum regulars for our first listener roundtable of the year.

The names will be revealed shortly.

Feel free to ask them anything relevant to The Paracast, their views, etc.

The recording session is set for Thursday, March 3, at 10 AM Mountain.

1) What new guests that have never been on the show would you like to be on the Paracast? Explain why.

2) What new ideas that have never been explored [or just barely touched on] that need serious exploration on the Paracast? Explain why.

3) Considering there are few female voices in the paranormal field would you like the Paracast to have a female co-host on for several shows each year, perhaps, as much as once per month or so? Any suggestions? Even could rotate females from the Forum too.

Tentatively Gene, I believe we can expect Ron Regehr who many listeners will know, Ufology (Randall) will be there too. We'll be joined by our Kiwi friend Stoneheart for the very first time - and believe me, he's already been asked quite a few times before!
Mr Fibuli might make an appearance, I believe 'Ron Away' -Scouse (Liverpool) accent in tow......is appearing - I'm looking forward to hearing how strong his Scouse is and whether people can make out enough if what he says!

Sue is joining the table and I believe she will be the very first female listener to do a roundtable show, so a big-up for Sue and we sincerely hope she will blaze a trail which others may follow in the future!
Boomerang I think after initially having problems getting the time off, may have found a solution and with him being an extremely active and well-liked forum member who also has been asked on in the past, thinks he may now be able to participate and I really, really hope he does. Getting some fresh blood onto Paracast Roundtables can only be a good thing to keep the show fresh and varied not retreading old ground endlessly. We don't want small-island gene-pool type factors detracting from our beloved show.

I'm really looking forward to this show! The more new faces the better but hearing again from some who haven't been on for a long while is great too. I'm 'Stoked' as you grass-smoking skateboarder types like to say!!

@stonehart:

1. (Just to make sure it gets asked), tell us what's been going on in your new home and why you posted that you have come from paranormal sceptic to believer over it. Have you been able to document anything?

2. If I've got that right, you have also seen ball-of-light-type objects.
- Please tell us about the sightings (I'm not familiar with the particular "lights phenomenon" so it would be interesting how far back witness reports go, etc).
- Is this the same phenomenon that has been filmed from an airplane in the 1970s?
- Do you think they were "just" balls of energy (plasma) or could there have been a nuts-and-bolts object behind them? Was there any intelligent behaviour?
- Could there be a connection to smaller light phenomena (orbs) reported in hauntings (and did you see any orbs or lights in your ongoing case)?

@all:

1. did any of you have similar paradigm-changing moments (from sceptic to believer or vice versa)?

2. Have there been shows or discussions on the paracast (show or forum) that changed your mind 180 degrees on these subjects?

3. Have you looked at "cases suggestive of reincarnation" (especially the work of Ian Stevenson and Jim Tucker)? Any own observations with children who made strange remarks or showed behavior which could indicate "past life memories" ?

4. During her paracast interview, Linda Godfrey reported a sighting where she saw a light orb in the same place another witness saw the apparation of a ghost (clothes and everything). What do you think? And what about Lloyd Auerbach's statement in his interview, that ghosts are probably "in the eye of the beholder" (so no actual physical entity, but only an image projected into the mind)?

5. What do you think the Philip experiment was "calling forth"?

6. Have you ever had an experience with a psychic? Do you think psychic mediums are all frauds / genuine / sometimes cheating, sometimes correct etc.

7. Have you heard about Julie Beischel's (Windbridge institue, medium research) observation that there seems to be a significantly higher percentage of psychosomatic illnesses in people who claim to be psychic compared to the general populace?

8. Do you think some police officers are working with "psychic detectives", as shown in many TV programmes? If there is anything to the claims (sometimes made by former policemen), why aren't they officially acknowledged?

9. Do you think the presence of sceptical people can effectively "block" paranormal events or psychic abilities? Is there an "experimenter effect" (as in parapsychological experiments showing significantly less positive results when the experimenter doesn't believe they can happen)?

10. What's your explanation for the placebo effect?

As I explained to Gene and Goggs a little earlier this morning, looks like I will be sitting this one out. Just being given the opportunity is a great honor. And I hope to participate at some future date.

A few possible questions: (apologies if already asked)

-What is your opinion regarding the value of hypnosis as an investigative tool for memory retrieval in witness based research ?

-If we assume certain people in world governments have cast a veil of secrecy over the subject of the UFO, do you think the architects of this secrecy are ultimately human or otherwise ?

-Do you see research methods in UFOlogy changing from traditional approaches based on observer-object duality (i.e. machines in the sky) to something in which the experiencer plays an essential and very personal role in the creation of a physical UFOlogical event ?

Thanks and looking forward to the show !

Nice questions... and a couple of tough ones at that... Thanks for giving me the time to think about them

Following the belgian triangle reports, there was a TV documentation made here in Germany which dared to say that maybe the witnesses weren't all hallucinating, hoaxing or misinterpreting things. This was seen as an outrage by my country's leading science journalists, who tried to stop the film from "spreading lies" and prevent future "misleading documentaries" from being aired.

Nowadays, with all the "reaility TV" nobody seems to care much any more about TV programmes keeping to the truth or not, but this debate showcases the at times still unbelievably agressive kind of scepticism in my country regarding any paranormal or fringe topic.

Most people who I know have an interest, simply shut up about it, not to become social outcasts. It's the main reason why I am writing only in forums abroad, not in german ones. So, do you think it's a good idea to just keep a low profile? Should we just shut up and "be good citizens"?

Nobody told me swearing was allowed if I had known that I would have tried to find a way to join if not for a moment or two to assist stoney with his profanity.

Yeah sorry Wade I can not express how much I do not like people like Trump... I let rip but even then I was still holding back... it is not nice language I used... :-(
