A question for the Skeptics

Free episodes:

I think the only thing that can really shake up a hardcore skeptic is an experience that happens to them or to someone close to them. That's what happened to me: the case that I consider the most solid is the one that happened to a man who is very close to my family--a case only he truly knows about. It was very frightening, so much so in fact that I only learned about it through the one family member this man trusted to tell the story to. There have been many occasions when I've just wanted to ditch this whole topic as a waste of time, but then I think about that man, and I want to know the truth about what happened.

And as for Fatima, for those who would so easily dismiss it as "children's stories", you clearly don't know anything about what happened there, especially the prophetic messages and the very public manifestations of visual phenomenon that are truly hard to explain. Do a little homework before you let loose with the insulting and condescending language--I'd be very cautious about even thinking of accusing those children of being liars :-)

As I mentioned in another thread - I know a HELL of a lot about that Fatima story, having grown up in a Catholic home. You can have faith in it if you wish, but when you come down to it, there's nothing about it that points to it being some sort of miracle. None of the predictions offered anything compelling. You can feel how you wish about it, that's fine, but you won't convince me about it. It's pretty much a legend. It is a nice story to tell young children to bring them into the church. However, I'll be teaching my daughter about reality and telling her stories for entertainment.

Does any body knows of any researcher, spending years in the field, talking to witnesses, whose conclusion would be that there is nothing more to the UFO phenomenon than misinterpretations, hoaxes and misunderstood natural phenomena ?

(this is not a trick question)

Excellent question, and no.

James Carrion comes to mind. Now that he has quit MUFON he thinks it was all a US psy-ops or something. This was discussed in a previous thread. here is Billy Cox's article about it: A Lone Rider Goes Over the Hill

Regarding Travis Walton - in his book he has dedicated quite a large section to discussing the attacks on him and his co-workers by Klass. He felt Klass singled himself out from skeptics and other debunkers by the visciousness and personal nature of his attacks and so goes to great lengths to challenge Klass' assertions.
