Above Top Secret: Government honeypot

Gene and Chris, I'd love an interview with the moderators in question where you ask them what their function is, and how they operate? ;)

Interesting video, comments?

Wasn't the original founder a Brit called Simon Grey who eventually got overwhelmed by the amount of time it was taking? I seem to recall something like that waaaay back in the day when I used to go there. WilliamOneSac seemed to be running the site for a while too. IIRC it got delegated to around 3/4 separate identities. Then it started to go downhill as different users had their favoured Mods and would go of complaining to that Mod to ban others etc... and some threads would devolve to Mod wars.

ATS should be seen/used as a seminal workshop in how NOT to manage communities without a clear focus, mission statement and most importantly, leadership.

My 2p.

Talking about forums, and I'm really trying not to be biased here, but I've never come across any forum other than the Paracast, that actually is pleasing to the eye and pleasant to read, in a visual lay-out sense. Sites like ATS look bad and feel terrible to use in the way it is presented.
High-five?

Look at the webpage of the business behind the site, google The Above Network, LLC.

Non-descript website, no activity for a couple of years, no links lead anywhere. Friggin' spooky.

Above Top Secret has always been an absolute insult to real Fortean thinkers and interested individuals everywhere. I posted there for a very short time and have since come to consider them to be the internet forum equivalent of Big Time Wrestling. It's obvious that they goad on posting there with self employed shill skeptic vs. believer posting. I was never banned from there but after about a month of participating on their nausea inducing forum I wrote them a letter that blatantly told them in no uncertain terms how I felt. I explained to them that I would do my best to dissuade present and future membership there as I felt that their organization represented an absolute disservice to genuine progressive Fortean interest everywhere. I never heard back from them. Now, if ATS is in anyway a direct product of the DOD, we're all in serious jeopardy of an alien invasion via Disneyland's Magic Kingdom. Good grief!

I found that the same kind of things were going on over at the JREF website. It would be interesting to know if some of the players there also come up with similarly suspicious IPs.

Or... it could be a ploy to draw more traffic to their site. How many more hits have they gotten because of this one "Anonymous" video? I will admit, I went there after viewing it and I have only been to the site once or twice before. It could be insignificant, but the number of spelling and grammar errors in the video make me suspicious of its veracity.

Also, where is John Lear in all this? Wasn't he the one who made the accusation against ATS in the first place? And if Mr. Lear is involved, well....

Well if you're paranoid of ATS ... you better dump Facebook too.
Here are the videos again.
Needless to say ... I don't have a Facebook Account.
Not that they can't tell what I'm up to anyway  .

Actually, turn off your computer, your smartphone, your tablet, your landline phone. Just live in a hut and use your own generator to produce power. Or candles. Or watch the NBC sci-fi series, "Revolution" to learn to survive in a world without power.

I don't have a smartphone either ... or a tablet, and I charge my laptop for free over at Starbucks while using their free Wi-Fi.

Although I would not be surprised that a site such as ATS could be used in such away (Ufology's post on FB in mind) I can give you some reasons to question the video that is supposedly from Anonymous.

First is an understanding of Anonymous history and what they are likely to target, for those that were around and remember OP Scientology you will understand how the system works.
This sort of site is extremely unlikely to have drawn Anons interest as a collective, so I expect it is an individual who is using the Anon mask so to speak.

The quality of video is so far below the par of what Anon will do as a collective that I instantly doubted its validity, but above all the entity that was Anonymous no longer really exists as it once did.

This may make you go "eh?!!!" but it is however the truth, for the simple fact is the Occupy movement saw the end of what you would term as classic Anon.

There is still an Anonymous but thanks to the whole Occupy thing anybody and their dog can call themselves such, what is more any hacker group can claim the name if they see fit to for any operation so it makes it very hard to tell what is the so called "real anonymous" and what is simply self-interested groups who wish to use the name as either good PR or cover.

Just my thoughts on this.

Will you elaborate please? I confess I didn't continue posting there simply cos the layout and visual presentation is displeasing to me. Nothing to do with the content, just the visuals. A bit of a pathetic excuse but it's true. Also, and I don't know about anyone else, I find one forum takes enough of my time, two or more is more than I can handle.
