Alien Invasion.......

Free episodes:

Well if the opening scenes from 2001 a space Odyssey reflect a reality, the invasion is well underway........

alternativly galactic policy may be to leave "island" populations alone, making contact only when that population sets up base on a new planet/s.

Hybridization is only a "threat" if you think humanity as it is represents the be-all, end-all of existence.

doesn't matter what blend my children or grandchildren are, they are still my descendants.
well, as long as they are not mixed with monkeys, etc. but any human mix is still human.
and I could likely stretch that to any humanoid sentient being? but wait, do apes qualify?
how about any sentient being that on the outside appears like us?

but wait, what if on the inside they are actually damn dirty apes?

I vote for naturally evolving human species developing into whatever they become. Unless they become heartless and evil.

see how this can go?

What was that quote about the best way to predict the future is to create it? What are our chances we get something we can connect or identify with in a future evolution of our species?

yeah, mike mentioned that quote. Begs the question of how to do it. And, oh! I just flashed on the idea of the ETs being our future selves coming back here to tinker with our DNA and create....our future selves! Whoa! Maybe that's how they do it.

In terms of getting something we can connect with, just look backwards. can we connect with Cro-Magnon 50,000 years ago? Sure, once we get past language and culture, they are us. How about Homo Erectus 200,000 years ago. Meh? Maybe not so much, though fringe groups could probably get along--maybe even mate. But Homo Afrensis a million years ago? No way. Look like ape. Talk like ape. Just maybe our ancestors--Big Maybe.

the big question to my mind is whether we can take control of our own evolution from here on out. There are some serious and thoughful arguments on both sides. And, of course, the professional ethictician will have to weigh in, the perennial pest telling us what we should do. Complex stuff. I wonder how much we really can control.

lol Time adds another dimension to the scenario....
(sry could not resist the temporal pun)
we know from existing models that the larger more prolific populations, often the more technically advanced, will "soak" up the culture and even the genes of smaller native ones, to the extent, given Time..... that the smaller ones for all intents and purposes are erased.

so, if they are us from the future they will be well aware of the history and dynamic , based purely on "local" models.
and if they are truly transgalactic ET's, then they may have observed this dynamic on a grander scale, that is in larger galactic populations and even if they havent, if they have the ability to travel in time as well as space, they will be aware of the reality as laid out in the local history books, that is to say the dynamic outlined above.

the question of "contact" has implications far deeper than simply exchanging a wave of recognition, if the terrestrial models (and i believe galactic ones) show.

for us here , now, 6 billion seems like a huge number, how could we suffer the same fate as the tasmanian aboriginal with numbers like that, ? but its all relative as they say, if we were to encounter an ET megapopulation spanning thousands of worlds..................

and ive been using the button, but id like to take the moment to thank everyone who has pondered my questions and given their answers.
