Annual Who Are You Thread

Free episodes:

Artist and writer.

pushing 40, married, cats, enjoy life for the most part. Would like to create technology that would free us from the tyranny of the greedy, but will settle for the attainable in this lifetime.

You should totally donate your life savings to the Greers Orion project. No really.

I am an artist ,41, female, married. I am also a night person, and I have been interested in UFO's/paranormal since I was very young. I have three children, a dog and a husband. I have lived in Florida since I moved here at two or three years old. I love to travel and explore new places, I enjoy learning new things and using my brain instead of wasting it on TV or other mind-melting activities. I enjoy reading everyone's interesting posts and I am glad to meet you all!

Hey everyone. My name is Guy and I'm 43 yrs old. I live in Philadelphia and I am an IT / Network person for a large maternity clothing company. I actually grew up in Arizona, so coming out east was like moving to a different country.

I must say that without a doubt,The Paracast forum is one of the most intelligent forums I've ever been a part of. So many people thinking for themselves and not having other people thinking for them. I feel like I'm part of a large extended family.

Thanks Gene and Dave and everyone else for making this such a great place.

My name is Rudolph Pokorny.

I am a 30 year old male graphic designer from Michigan U.S. I work in the newspaper biz.

My hobbies are photography, vinyl records, motor scooters, technology, and last but not least paranormal topics.

I have been interested in the paranormal as long as I can remember and absolutely love this podcast and the forums!

Hey wait a minute, does that mean i'm the youngest paracaster!?
Do i get some kind of award?
Does it mean i am spearheading the new age of ufology? :D

Let's see, my name is Carl, 37 years old and I live in Eastern Canada, right out on the Atlantic Ocean in Nova Scotia.

I was a professional bass player when I was a younger guy, I have a doctorate in organic chemistry that I earned during my years as a musician, thankfully the music business was very good to me and financed my education.

I owned a small to medium sized advertising firm for a while, sold that and made enough money to do whatever I wanted, so I work part-time as a contract consultant in the oil and gas industry, mostly with Exxon Mobil, because chemistry is my passion and it allows me all the free time I want to pursue fun stuff like travel and my addiction to motorcycles. ;)

I'm a sci-fi nut, also love reading medical and psychology books, and music of course! Other then that I'm pretty boring.

Hi all! I'm pretty much a lurker and enjoy reading the posts. I'm married, have three kids, two dogs and a cat named Creepers. I have had several experiences in my lifetime and find comfort in knowing that there are others who have had similar experiences and are willing to share them. Those who have shared their experiences have given me courage to face up to some of the things that have happened to me.

I'm a 36 yr old suburban dad of one toddler and another due this spring. I seem to get paid for replying to emails and sitting on endless conference calls.

I'm actually not fond of this little obsession and wish it would go away, but I like reading what you folks have to say. And listening to the paracast on the train into work. I crank up the playback speed to "chipmunk" so I can cram a 2 hour episode into ~ 1hr.

I don't believe much except that there is more to this world than meets the eye. Looking for it is lonely so it's nice to have you along for the journey.

My name is Mike. I'm a 46 year old white guy living in rural idaho. I sit at home part of the year doing cartoony illustrations, and the rest of the year I work teaching outdoor skills. I work for a mountaineering school, and I spend the summers in Alaska teaching glacier mountain skills. And, in the winter I teach skiing and winter snow camping.

So - If anyone want's to know how to build an igloo, I have a lot of experience.

I'm un-married, no kids but I have a nice cat.

Over the last 20 years or so I have been reading books on the UFO subject - a lot of them. My little cabin probably has well over 100 of 'em. I've mostly been focusing on the abduction phenomenon.

About two years ago, I had a conversation with a friend in the film business, I was trying to convince him to do a documentary on the UFO abduction phenomenon. He was really interested and seemed to sense the need for a even-keeled look at this easily exploited subject. He asked me a few questions, and then a few more - and then I told him (in a sort of dismissive way) that I had a missing time event right after seeing a weird flash in the sky when I was in Jr. High School.

He gave me this look that sort of chilled me.

Until that time, I had never really let myself even consider the importance of that story. The look on his face sent me on a new life journey.

These last two years have been spent actually looking at MYSELF, and trying to deal with all the implications of my strange life experiences. And it ain't been easy...

I'll add that I look EXACTLY like my cartoon avatar.

Where did you get the idea that I had any money? I'm an artist for fuck's sake.

I heard that.
The only profession that pays as poorly as a career in the arts is teaching, but at least that comes with decent benefits. If you can stand all the political nonsense and paranoia, that is.
Although it may sound arrogant, I've come to the conclusion that the majority of humans are not fit to look after a family pet, let alone a child. Maybe we would all be better off if reproduction was a performance based privilege and not an absolute right.
Jesus, sometimes I scare myself.

I get paid okay for the work I do, but then I'm also working in about a dozen different mediums. I'd like to narrow it down to ONE.

I'm a 47 year old married guy from St. Louis, Missouri. Professionally I have been in the computer game industry for over 25 years. My interest in UFOs and such began with reading 'Cosmic Trigger' and 'The New Inquisition' by Robert Anton Wilson many years ago. Personally I am a Freemason, having joined a number of years ago and found that it quite suited me well.

I have never seen a UFO and have not had any clearly paranormal experiences in my life. I am intellectually interested in the topic because I believe that the range of phenomena involved indicate something truly unique about the fabric of our shared reality.

My name's Steve Cowperthwaite, I'm 46 and live here in Daytona Beach, Fl.

I install wood floors to pay the bills. For fun I play guitar with my band (yep, another one of those damn musicians) hang out with my fabulous girlfriend Tammy, and play with yo-yos. Well, there's other stuff, too, but that's what fills most of my free time.

I've been interested in the odd side of life since I was a wee lad and read the Betty & Barney Hill story in a magazine. Nothing paranormal has ever happened to me, but I'm still hopeful.

I'm a 35-year-old guy (my avatar is a portrait) from Pittsburgh, PA. I've been fascinated by the paranormal pretty much as long as I can remember, from UFOlogy to spiritualism to cryptozoology, you name it. (To name drop a moment, I have the honor of being a friend of several-times Paracast guest Allen Greenfield, with whom I've had the pleasure of a number of conversations on ceremonial magick, UFOs, and other such fun.)

I am in my last semester of a very long-overdue bachelor's degree in physical science (physics/chem/bio hybrid program). I am a full-time UNIX system administrator for the university where I am a part-time student.

Politically I am very left-libertarian. I have a great respect for spirituality and the need many people for connection with a higher power, but I have undisguised contempt for the dogmas of mainstream religion.

The most I've ever done in the paranormal investigation department is the day I drove to Kecksburg, PA (not too far from where I grew up) and asked the few people I saw about the alleged UFO crash. I didn't stay long, though, because I was alone and I was getting a serious Deliverance vibe out there! ...

Cheers,
--Shawn

I'm a 47-year old software developer from New Zealand (currently underemployed, grubbing for contracts. Sigh).
I studied languages and literature at university (my degree was in French...which meant I spent my time in classes full of girls, much better than doing CompSci and being surrounded by...well, you know).

I don't know whether I'm a night person or not, but I basically forgot how to sleep several years ago.

I'm fascinated by the paranormal but frustrated by people who aren't big on critical thinking, the long shadow of Helena Blavatsky and other con artists, and people who bring up Quantum Physics as if it were a Get Out Of Rational Thinking Free card.

I play guitar and tin whistle (feadóg), both badly.
I've been trying to learn to play Sultans of Swing for 30 years. Quite sad really.

I'm Rich, a 25 year old male born in Princeton New Jersey and currently living in Gloucester Massachusetts. I was born on July 16th, the date of Apollo 11 liftoff (Oddly enough I also joined here on 11-11-08, and my username has three 1's. May the synchronicities fly!) which would make me a Cancer, a water sign ruled by the moon. I work as a supervisor for shipping and receiving at UPS and my formal education for the most part ended after Highschool. I consider myself to be self-taught in anything that interests me. Two quotes I live by regarding that, each by Einstein:

"It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education."
"Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."

Beyond that, I've always held a fascination for the paranormal, particularly the UFO mystery. I practically grew up on it, and only recently have I began looking at it in a more serious light and dedicating more time to it.
