The vaccine stuff really drives me crazy and in my opinion is extremely dangerous. People are listening to non-experts such as Jenny McCarthy instead of the doctors. Due to the anti-vaxxers children have actually died. So sad.

So you're cool with infants dying of whooping cough? Don't tell me you're one of those people that think Andrew Wakefield is a hero. Vaccines eradicated polio and small pox. How is that a bad thing? The science is there that shows that vaccines are extremely helpful in preventing disease.

The problem with science is that it is controlled by the people with all of the money and power who, therefore, control what scientific advancements are released to the general population. If the money, time and effort was spread evenly across all scientific disciplines we may not be still using the ancient technology that is fossil fuels for our energy requirements. Illness would be a thing of the past. Water would always be fresh and abundant, food would be chemical free and the list goes on and on. Instead we as a people are satisfied with the mess that we have and not demanding that our scientists be released from their monetary shackles and get on with making this planet a better place to live. Until then science and scientists are just lackeys of the big corporations.
If the money that is spent yearly on war on this planet was allocated to scientific advancement of the health, wellbeing and clean energy requirements of the human race, we could be in a far better and healthier place.
Unfortunately it is all just a pipe dream.

Richard Feynman was once asked if he thought scientific progress could continue indefinitely and is answer was a qualified "maybe". I wish I had the link to his answer (on video) as it sort of puts things into better perspective.

Yes it is all just a pipe dream, thats what happens when capitalism goes off the rails so to speak. Although I think its unrealistic to assume illness would be a thing of the past...but I completely agree with the fossil fuels point you made.

As far as making money on warfare...the USA is the number 1 arms dealer in the world...much of our crappy trade agreements have us giving Israel nukes and little Taiwan jet fighters they dont even know how to use.
