You are of course forgetting to include 'Alien'? Not any of the sequels or prequel, just 'Alien' which in my book is simply a top film of all time, never mind ET stuff alone. It's scary, looks great, acted amazingly and is also very thought-provoking on subjects such as meeting other life out in the universe, nature, evolution, food chain, innate intelligence etc. On so many levels is it a great film.

Actually, I never really got into the whole series of Alien films. Not that there aren't some good movies in the series, just that they never really had that much of an effect on me. I did like the recent prequel "Prometheus" but not enough to rank it up there with ET or Close Encounters.

I saw this a few weeks ago and I also thought it was pretty well done, though I have to say that as far as movies go, this one really didn't make much of an impression on me in the long term, but then again I've yet to see a movie about aliens other than Close Encounters and ET that did. An interesting and entertaining film, but kind of shallow, at least imo. I do have to admit to being a huge fan of JK Simmons ever since the days of Oz, so I was glad to see him in the film. Overall a good popcorn horror flick, but not much more than that.

JK is pretty cool. i was ok with the movie until the end when the actually abduction occured then i felt it veered off. i would have liked it better if the greys had stayed unseen and the threat was more implicit than anything. i did like that the abduction part wasn't just a snatch and run and showed some of the OZ factor but still it left me cold, and then that call in from their son on the walkie talkie just left a bad taste in my mouth. i'm not sure why, i think it's just i think it was a good idea but poorly executed.

i've yet to see, but heard some good stuff about the conjuring. i think it says something when a movie is rated R for intensity and scariness and not blood, gore and disemboweling.

the director james wan, knows his stuff when it comes to scary, i didn't care about seeing any of the saw movies...i think he just did the first one...but i can appreciate the idea, i really likeed insidious as well.
