Denver International Airport

Free episodes:

You know, I honestly can't remember the last time I had a conversation about a sculpted horse's naughty bits. Clearly, something in my life has been missing. This forum has introduced a whole new realm of possibilities for me, I'm sure to the dismay of Gene and Chris.

I will say, however, that this photograph is truly magnificent:

Think of Michelangelo's David - only horsier - with a nearby thunder cell - and kind of demonic.

Just looking to stir up some conspiratorial controversy...

Oh.... William was just horsing around a little bit.

I'm not exactly sure what the real story on DIA is.There is lot of disinformation out there. I don't think the whole thing is innocent under the surface.

No snit intended, DIA is a living testament to gross project management incompetence and government largess (in the form of gross misappropriation of tax payer monies).

It's really that simple.

Oh great I have a two-hour lay over at DIA in a couple of days... sheesh...
There are some decent restaurants at DIA, which may come in useful as most domestic carriers aren't even wanting to give out the usual Kibbles and Bits these days. There's at least one beer house, some Chinese restaurants and a micro version of the Denver Chop House. I'd tell you to seek out the murals but I think they're both near the baggage claim area, which won't be convenient if you're changing planes. At least one is (or was) over there. Flydenver.com is a good source for keeping up with everything related to the airport.

We also may be getting another major winter storm come this weekend, possibly starting as early as Friday (at least, my part of the mountains may be getting some serious snow as early as Friday afternoon or evening. Even if your flight leaves on time, it's possible your connection could get delayed depending upon how the storm progresses. Anyway, hope you have a safe and fun trip.

Chris, ask if you can check out the buildings that had to be buried because they were positioned incorrectly.

Chris, ask if you can check out the buildings that had to be buried because they were positioned incorrectly.
And if he does, I hope like hell he'll tell me how hard the DIA reps laugh when he asks.

Because of its size and location, DIA really can't have secrets such as entire buildings which were then buried. Denverites can and did watch it get built. The "buried buildings" appears to be nothing more than a myth, allegedly by someone who padded his resume a bit - though possibly related to people seeing the subway being built but failed to grasp what it was they were watching all while being too lazy to ask.

Sometimes an overwhelming lack of evidence is entirely because there is nothing going on.

Or maybe I'm part of the Godless disinformation campaign - and every single person in Denver is in on the campaign as well. Bwahaha.

Unfortunately, I have flown in and out of DIA a couple of dozen times since it opened and I've spent many untold hours wandering around during layovers. Before that I used Stapleton until it closed. The weirdest feature I've seen (bedsides the mural) is the traveling businessgargoyle. Who selected this one, I wonder?

It's one of two gargoyles that's meant to ward of the evil spirits of lost luggage, which is why they both overlook the baggage claim area.

Funny, but I don't remember seeing them when I was last there this past January. I usually notice them - but didn't exactly look for them this last time.

Still hoping the weather holds out for you and your trip is safe and uneventful.
