I don't know or care if your are bullshitting us, my post was about the fact that it's a very tiresome shill to hint, winkie and suggest that you and your Guest are so important and so exploding the planet with evolutionary news that TPTB would play phone -on, pnone-off with either of you.

How many times I seen this ploy on alt media? Oh, 100? More?

Point? Don't mention it. All it does is make you look as foolish as the other alt media talking heads who, like you, haven't one scintilla of evidence that the phone interruptions were 1) purposefully caused and 2) had to do with the earth shattering nature of your "revelations".

This advice came free, no charge, no need to thank Qetuoadgjl so move on and have a happier life now.

Okay new guy, if you had been here longer than 5 minutes you might have a clue about this circumstance. However, I got the feeling you are trolling here and that ain't gonna happen. I don't like your tone nor do I like your sarcasm. I been doing radio a very long time, over 20 years, and my audience knows I don't bullshit them. You want to hang around here let me suggest you change your tone. If not ... by by.

I rest my case then. You should know Don better then, though. Weird shit happened in that episode, all implications from other sources aside. I don't think anyone here claims it was Agent Smith deliberately tapping some button, but as I wrote before, it was peculiar. :)

"Weird shit" happens, and is so claimed, in hundreds of radio shows, that's the point. It's when the Interviewer or Interviewee or both decide to go all CIA on us. It's old, it's worn out and it's useless.

Decker, it's your playground, do as you like but there isn't one thing I have said that is wrong, inaccurate or incorrect. Ban me, fan me, but for God's sake, don't lecture me, I was around radio when you were learning how to turn the knobs.

Well Qetuoadgil, one thing you just proved, in all your time you never learned manners, considering your in "my house." Okay "old-timer", lets see how it goes.

"... Listen? To thousands on thousands of hours of alt media video, audio, podcasts, vidblogs. I was around when Usenet was a real place to engage discussion..."

"...If you sheeple haven't heard the "OH OH our phones went bad...HMMMMMM...just as we were talking about {insert}...HMMMMMMM shill/ruse/projection then you haven't been around the alt media block, Grasshopper..."

You gotta admit, the guy can fling it

I was taught it was impolite to lie, so I don't, or to suck up, so I don't. You will not find one post of mine where I have disgraced my Teachers. If you do, ban me.

I never claimed you were being unethical or dishonest or any claim of any sorts but as a Guest I gave you a gift...a gift of advice. Take it, leave it, throw it in the trash, makes me nonevermind.

Best of luck to you.

sorry to stick my 10 cents in but what i got from Don's phone issues was that it was less CIA shut down (which i agree is a bit of a radio cliche these days) and more WTF paranormal weird shit shut down as if underhand forces were at work in messing with and derailing what is a disturbing and strangely sinster topic, I hope the irony is not lost here.

anyhoo back to the topic. anyone got a hypothesis?

Don, ignore this person. This person obviously isn't a regular listener to your show, and wants to push your buttons, for their own reasons.

I listen to dozens of esoteric podcast interviews from various sources. Quite a few have recurrent audio and connectivity problems. I'm guessing much of this of this stems from working on a tight budget. It's not as if most podcasters have the luxury of giving a hi sign to the audio engineer when things go wrong.

Prior to getting my new broadcast computer (which I only use for the DMR show), as you all know, I was having a lot of broadcast problems. With the new box however, I have been able to do the show with the absolute no problems. The box works very well.

The Paulides show started and went, as expected, with no problems. It was when we got into some individual cases that I first lost him. As most of you know, I handle all the facets of the show. Running the phones, board, handling the breaks etc. It took me a moment to realize he had dropped off so I explained we "lost" the guest, played some music while I got him back on. By the way, I use Time-Warner for my phone/internet connections. Usually I have no problems with either. I called Paulides back, got him right on, and if you listened to this show you know I joked about it. We continued on, the signal back to Boston was fine then I lost him again. It was almost like the phone connection just dropped off. Once again I called him back, got him and we continued on. When I lost him again I gotta tell you I was confused. This had not happened before and Paulides told me he never had this problem with his telephone. He suggested we go to his cell phone which he used until the end of the show. I have no answer for why on this show we had the problems we had.

As I stated earlier I thought this was strange, still think it is weird and there it is. Take it or leave it but for those of you that follow DMR, you will have to make up your own minds about what this was.

I am gonna go have a cup of coffee now. And a good morning to all of you.

Good morning Don. I enjoyed the show and anything else is just nitpicking. I have noticed a distinct lack of civility lately on the forums as a whole. Some of that is due to letting folks of like mind have a field day. But, you are very level headed and don't bow down and expose your neck to the allmighty, all knowing skeptics or placate the true believers. I like that.

I'll second that, but I'm not so sure that Qetuoadgjl's posts even constitutes nitpicking. The troll was just being a horses ass. But in a perverse way, I kinda admire the fact he had no problem with exposing himself to ridicule, more fun for guys like me. If I have any faults....IF...it's that I'm like a shark that smells blood in the water and his posts make me think...smorgasbord !!!!
but at the same time it isn't my place to go seeking out fools like him and putting them in their place.( it is fun though) and, as in his case, not in a position to defend themselves, so it isn't really sporting at that point, so I'm sorta conflicted here

Don, I have listened to many, many of your programs, and I don't remember you complaining about 'dark forces' constantly at work to thwart your efforts. This one was definitely the exception.

I also keep hearing from credible researchers in esoterica that if one delves deeply enough into this stuff, it has way of occasionally pushing back. The literature is replete with this aspect of the phenomenon.

Great episode. I especially was freaked out by the discovery of shoes with socks and pants pulled down etc. That was pretty weird!

Also the reluctance of some officials: 'you are never getting your hands on those files' !! Oh really? And why on earth might that be!

Who would have thought the park ranger service could possibly be complicit in maybe covering up the manner of some disappearances, probably in an effort to prevent people deserting the parks in droves, scared of some 'serial-killer sasquatch, that grabs men while they are taking a dump'. (well that last bit is entirely made up by me but you get the picture).

Well that was one of those topics that sounded like it could be a little boring from the title in my opinion. How wrong was I? lol

Few points on the show:

I think the omission of anything bigfoot-like is sensible because that alone may turn off many would-be readers and possibly publishers (tho he may have had a deal regardless), The book is interesting in it's own right without any 'need' for including any paranormal stuff.

Is it possible that some of the disappearances were deliberate? Like some guy wants everyone to think he is dead etc? That kind of thing certainly goes on in the world and it may account for some of the cases. Not all by a long shot though. It is still very strange how there were not only disappearances but the manner was very weird, with people's belongings being found far from where they were expected and in places that would have been ridiculously difficult to get to. Not something that happens just be accident, taking a wrong turn for half an hour for example. The way some were described, they were far more out of the norm than that.

The call dropping a couple of times. I wonder if anyone has ever sat down and got some stats from a phone provider? How often can anyone reasonably expect to have such call problems during a call of these 2hour durations? I can say personally that I cannot remember EVER a landline call just failing like that and most certainly not a few times in a row!

Unless it is some deliberate 'showmanship' in the paranormal field (I don't think so but it has been hinted at by another post I think) then it does appear on first look to be happening at a very high rate during these call-in shows. It's not like the phone company knows what the topic of conversation is do they? Or do they?
Seriously though, I don't know about California but at home in the UK I am not familiar with landline calls just dropping. Mobiles, sure. Landlines, no.
I would think it worth Don calling his provider and asking what is a normal level of failure to expect?

@Ward - what's this 'I wish cotton was a monkey' gag? Is it a private joke or am I missing something quite well known? (won't be the first or last time!)

Seeing that don has had issues with his website as well maybe there is a connection, Don when you do your phone interviews is there any kind of patch or connection you use in recording your program so the phone link goes through your website provider?

No. My phone and internet come from the same provider. I use a JK Audio Telephone Patch that feeds thru my Mackie Board. (A Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro) The JK Audio Patch takes the phone call and then I control it from my site. The dropped off calls came from my guests side. His landline is the one that dropped off.

Irony or sarcasm or nyukles?

I'd have landline drops and phones which disconnect due to faulty wiring. Unusual, sorta. Who knows which is my point. No one. Don could have been duped by his Guest killing the connection on purpose. Who knows which is why I say "Fuggedaboutit", but I rarely hear a radio personality who doesn't go all CIA on this nonevent.
