Italian Astronomers stumble upon UFO on the Moon

Imagine an ice cream cone, the kind that flairs at the top to hold the scoop of ice cream. Cut off the pointed end of the cone and enclose it with a flat bottom. Turn the whole thing upside down, extend the tripod legs and you've basically got the image. I think I remember hardware on the outside of it like perhaps gauges or small doors. It's just been too long, longer than my current memory serves. But then I was creeped out by it too..

I think I remember seeing the craft you are talking about. It's donut shaped with angled sides. I don't remember what program it was on. Maybe a show call "From Tactical to Practical" on History Channel?

I found some similar technology with videos:

Yeah, I see the line you are talking about. That makes this look a bit suspicious.

Here is an interview with the guy who shot the video, Alberto Mayer.

Does any image specialists have an opinion about the line? Is it just bad masking or what?

Thanks,

my guess is that due to how the video is presented, its had a lot of processing carried out on the footage.... who knows whats been lost or added inadvertantly

The Video is very interesting but hard to draw any conclusions. Can't tell distance or size. No shadow or indication of shape other than spherical. Maybe a balloon being carried by winds? Interesting though.

It is one of the few UFO videos that show an object change directions in a varied path without visible outside influence unlike what you see in a lot of Space Shuttle UFO footage. Most supposed Space Shuttle UFOs fly at constant speed and never change direction and looks just like floating debris.

What is encouraging is that someone is using telescopes to view some of these objects. I liked the way the analysis was done that showed the path that was taken while showing the movement of the object. I wish this level of analysis was more common.

I wish I could spend the money to build a infrared high powered motion tracking telescope to sweep the skies and hook it up to a HD Tivo to run 24/7. Then I could do a live feed to Paracast.

I think getting a high powered telescope and keeping and eye on the circumfrence of the moon to see if anything moves, (coming from behind) would be a good idea.

The moon was so darn large in the sky here in puget sound last week that it was amazing.

How many people still use telescopes?

It only raised one of my eyebrows. Kind of a Teal'c, or Mr. Spock eyebrow raise.

"Curious".

I have a crappy little scope and am looking to upgrade in the near future to a less crappy little scope (maybe even a "backpack" model). If anyone has any advice, I don't know much about who is making the best quality for the least cost.... I don't want any fancy motorized units and if I could save a few bucks by mounting it on a solid video camera tripod I have plenty of them laying around!

"Least cost" is a major factor... my wife is starting student teaching in January and that is basically like slavery only you have to pay for 15 credit hours. Discretionary income is not something I will really have for a while!
