Leslie Kean and Charles Halt on The Paracast

Free episodes:

Understood. I was just wondering to what she would say, as someone who was close to Hopkins. But, you're right - it's too much, sorry for posting it in the first place. But please ask the rest if possible...

Just listened to the show. Good show although Leslie I felt stayed too true to her profession and didn't really give opinions on much outside what she knows as fact. It's difficult to press Leslie into giving her thoughts on parts of the UFO subject that call for supposition and conjecture. I do understand her position, it's what keeps her out of the line of fire I suppose and not getting lumped in with the crazies. I'm sure she is constantly on guard so that she is not mis-quoted and taken out of context, in such a way that any reputation/credibility she has would be tarnished.
So perhaps regarding Leslie it's unsurprising and unfortunately doesn't make quite as interesting an interview as might otherwise be possible.

In contrast, I felt more was pulled from Col Halt. Interestingly he revealed for instance that he does indeed believe in an all-controlling, all knowing 'secrecy group' in charge of UFO secrecy. Also, Halt revealed he corresponded with Lord Hill-Norton for some time before his death. For anyone not familiar with Hill-Norton or his views on the UFO topic, it's easy enough to find quotes of his and he also wrote the forward in Tim Good's 'Above Top Secret'. It cannot be overstated that Hill-Norton, once at the pinnacle of the UK military, felt there were areas of information even he could not access. The implications of this are enormous, and pretty scary really.
Halt also said that he believes the Rendlesham forest area to be a hotspot of paranormal activity. That was news to me. I'd be interested to hear if there is any documented activity from that vicinity, since the UFO event Halt himself was part of.

There is more and I feel the second half of this episode ranks highly in terms of great Paracast episodes. It's not too often we get such insight from someone who has credibility as a former officer who was second-in-command of a nuclear-armed base and involved intimately in one the best documented and well-known UFO cases of the modern age. I heard things from Halt that I'd not heard him say before so it's always great to get new info in a Paracast episode.

This was an all time great interview. I would have enjoyed a bit more speculation on the part of Ms Kean as well. She must have collected some interesting takes by now based on what she has been told both on and off the record. But I think her reluctance is understandable. Credibility is, as she in so many words stated, part of her stock and trade. I especially would have liked to hear more of her questions directed to Col Halt. Asking pertinent questions is what she does well and Halt is obviously a wellspring of info.

Great show !

Awesome show !

Too bad my 'trick' question to Leslie couldn't squeeze out any personal opinion... but that's understandable considering her profession and day-to-day exposure to critics. Pulling the lever away from a 50/50 position would have exposed a bias but hopefully we'll get a better perspective when she retires from investigative journalism ;)

Leslie Kean is all about clear signal where Steven Bassett is really all about noise for the masses in a Barnum & Bailey format. She's bang on when she says that Bassett's approach is damaging the subject to a point where you think he's working for the people who want to hide/ignore the phenomena.

What really struck a cord is the astounding distance separating an intelligent investigator like Leslie Kean and a former Minister of Defense (Paul Hellyer). What Hellyer is asserting as truth and what Leslie was able to document and investigate are really two separate worlds. Its an untenable disconnect. Without cross-validated supporting material, we're really dealing with a growing sect and eventual religion here. Bassett could easily apply for charitable and religious organization tax exemption.

Hellyer's painful video.

Col. Halt was a great guest that clearly demonstrated how this phenomenon can hard-wire perceptions and sometimes corrupt individuals that figure they can cash in on their experience to the point where they end up corrupting their initial story (binary codes lol).

You know, having heard of what Hellyer said at the hearing, I cannot bring myself to actually watching it. Seriously, the cringe factor would just be too much.

How can this man not fathom the tremendous damage he's doing to what's left of his reputation. How can he talk like that without Zeta Reticulians in his closet ?

Bassett convinced him to step on square 6 when the panel is barely considering square 1 on the road to disclosure. This is totally ridiculous unless there is a financial advantage linked to it... He's pushing his book which should become the reference for Raelians LOL

It's enough to think Basset is a very cleverly placed disinfo guy. Otherwise, why would someone so passionate about getting the public/govt to take UFOs seriously, do so much to damage that very cause? It doesn't make sense.

One positive note, although a crumpled one, if someone of Hellyer's standing can ramble out unverifiable nonsense which such confidence.... I think its urgent that some kind of agency starts looking at UFO's before it drives everybody to the loony bin
