when I go to log in the screen goes grey and it wont let me log in. to log in i have to open the log in button in a seprate tab to get it to work hope it is just a glitch.

The forum software is dimming the screen and putting up a slide down window. Do you have JavaScript disabled on your browser?
 
JavaScript is NOT Java. They are two separate technologies. The former is just a way to present nifty features on a site, and doesn't suffer from the security problems of the latter. I know there's confusion. Think of JavaScript as a scripting language for sites; while Java is a programming language designed to make apps -- and these days those apps can be vulnerable to malware.
