The pilot had promise. But at this point it seems to be more about the usual law enforcement drama that's all over tv already.

And the "aliens" or whatever they are, aren't very alien at all. But I suppose they may turn out to be something other than simple ETs. The pilot left this sort of open. I am wondering if they're from a parallel universe or something else that will stir my interest and imagination. The latter is a very important quality of a show for me. I can forgive a lot of failings in a show if it compels me to think like BSG did. Or, like someone said, if the characters are engaging enough.
Stargate SG-1 was hardly thought-provoking at all, but it had a great cast of characters. The Event is still lagging at both so far.
