Paid Shills

Free episodes:

Interesting article, ATS has labelled it a hoax though. I have a hard time buying this story, especially coming from a site like ATS, where it was posted, or GLP where the guy claims he was paid to shill. Paranormal phenomena is such a fringe topic that I have a hard time believing there are shady organizations out there that would pay to manipulate the small portion of the public interested in these things. Not to mention the wide variety of divergent opinions in this field is more than enough to keep people arguing, just look at all the attacking and back biting that goes on in the UFO field. Why pay someone to do something that people are going to do themselves for free?

The comments are pretty interesting as well, the main people claiming this happens are all from whacko sites about chemtrails, energetic healing and other new age hippy nonsense, what a surprise. Paranoid gonna paranoia.

The article reminded me of a cheap novel- describing the shady building, job interview and such. Perhaps there is some truth to the "paid shill" -I've never seen any such "plants" in any paranormal sites I've frequented, at least. Some people are so crazy over politics, it would be hard to distinguish a paid shill over regular posters in political message boards..
Hard to get past the reality of a 9 to 5 shill, sitting in a leaky building with bad lighting... ready to close shop and relocate when the red phone rings. Do they hand out W-2's every January?

I wish people paid for that kind of thing. I used to see people accuse Lance of being a paid agent of some kind. That would be the best job, ever. You'd have so much free time; you'd have to do so little work.
Where do I submit my resume?

Muadib? time to confess.

Lol, you got me! No, really though, I'm with PoO, sounds like an easy job, though it would have to be something I already felt strongly about, I'm not as politically malleable as the guy in the article. Like I said in my OP, it's nonsense, why pay someone to do something people are already going to do? It's in our very nature to disagree with each other, money isn't needed as motivation.

I am flattered that you think I'm good enough to get paid for what I do, though. :p

I'm not a paid shill, but I'd love to be one. Lord knows I could use the money...

But seriously, this article smacks of fiction to me. Although I don't doubt that something like this happens on a very different level, like companies paying people to praise their products on various forums, or to defend them in the comments section of various news stories.

Oddly enough, I have been accused of being a paid shill before. The last time it happened was when I was trying to dispute several claims being made by someone trying to promote conspiracies surrounding the Aurora shootings. I followed the case quite closely in the beginning because I don't live very far away from Aurora and I actually know someone who was there that night. So, when I pointed out some of the points that this conspiracy theorist was just dead wrong on, and attempted to correct them too, he accused me of being paid to promote disinformation...

"Paid shills" do exist, but only (in my opinion) in the commercial sense. Like Verizon's "customers" who were/are just so happy with Verizon's service they are willing to answer tweets from anyone who's interested in their feedback. Riiiiiiiight. It turns out, they were all paid actors. The thing is, this information was easily unearthed and anyone who took the time to check out Verizon's web page found Verizon readily admitted this.

Part of the self-delusion with conspiracy theorists is they are somehow dangerous, or worth monitoring. The reality is, conspiracy theorists tend to be their own worst enemies. Seriously! Take the time to read through the hundreds of pages of pure lunacy batted around as "research" on ATS. It's laughable. Don't get me wrong. There *are* some interesting ideas and some rational conversations. However, the vast majority of the content resides in unicorn land.

My two cents.

Slightly is saying exactly what I was suggesting. BTW, does anyone else find it interesting that this whistleblower in the article is suggesting that it was Israel that was paying him? Considering how many conspiracy theories single out that country in particular, wouldn't you think they would be a larger land mass on the map? I just find the idea that one of the most powerful and devious nations on the planet being just a little larger than the state of Delaware is a fairly odd thing. Wouldn't they be much larger?

Oh, wait a minute. I think I have it. They (as in the NWO) want to reduce the population enough to fit into exactly that size of land mass. That way we'll be easier to control, right?

Sarcasm is hard to read, because it is mostly found in vocal tones. So, please apply the proper voice when reading this post...
