We are programmed to interpret the world through a series of colors, shapes, symbols and aural tones from the time we are infants. Could it be that this is why children seem more prone to seeing and experiencing the paranormal?

The generally acceped rate of audio hallucinations in kids and adolescents is 9% and 6% have visual hallucinations. The rates are higher among the clinical population. The other important statistic to consider is how school kills creativity, imagination and resilience in children by the time they leave grade 4. A child's early experience of reality is much more varied and unsullied compared to that of adults. I would expect them to report far more exciting visions than us older folk.

Rizla you make an interesting observation here. We are programmed to interpret the world through a series of colors, shapes, symbols and aural tones from the time we are infants. Could it be that this is why children seem more prone to seeing and experiencing the paranormal?

I think that's a good way of looking at it. I'm starting to find that if I want to figure out any damned thing, I need to relax. Outside of the workplace (and even there),
what, most of the time, is the rush? The paranormal only comes to me when I'm centered in any way, if at all. Anyway, I look forward to more reports from
the state that could have made a very interesting and tolerant country in itself, way back when. Cheers!

I enjoyed hearing Stan Gordon on the Feb. 17th show. I have two books from him on strange PA.

Somewhere in his books, or in others that I have (I am not sure), it talks about a portal opening up in the woods of Potter County. This was near Cherry Springs.

I have a cabin in Potter County so I am very interested in finding this reference again.

Does anyone know where this information is located?

Thanks,

PA Dowser (aka: Bill)

Stan Gordon was great on the Paracast! I'm a life long Pennsylvanian as well (north of Pittsburgh). Some of the reports he discussed took place in areas that I am very familiar with. It was actually a bit surreal to think that I had no idea just how many weird stories there were in the area while growing up in it. I recently finished Case Book One and thought it was a great read. Unfortunately I don't recall the PA portal incident off the top of my head and I don't see anything when I do a few Google searches. Guess I'm just gonna have to keep reading his books. If I find something, I'll be sure to let you know! :D

I actually had a weird incident occur while riding in the car with my mom one evening years back. It wasn't nearly as dramatic as some of Stan's stories, and I probably would have brushed it off if it wasn't for my mom's reaction at the time and two other people who mentioned similar incidents before and after it. So I do think this area may have some weird things going on that we aren't privy to.

As a side note, many of the areas I grew up in are both suburban and rural. I think it's a bit of a mixed bag that errs on the side of total skepticism, at least among the people I know. There are some that are genuinely interested, though and sometimes its nice to connect with those people.

Care to elaborate and tell your story, Grifynne?
