But in all fairness there was a lawsuit filed this past spring against a specific section against the ndaa (indefinite detention) and the court agreed but the government's attitude still basically was "o.k. but only for the people named as the plaintiffs" which shows that obama does know how to dance.

True enough ... but!
The simple fact that such legislation could have been brought into the light of day in a nation that was built on the foundation of liberty and justice for all is not only frightening it is appalling.
 
Agreed , quite frankly if it weren't for the fact that hundreds of thousands of my fellow countrymen (and because of global ties) millions of people worldwide are gonna get badly hurt I'd be all for a good downsizing of the us of a, let the chinese take their rightful place and play global cop, I know as of now, their policy has always been "none of our concern" when the issue of right to intervene came up, I wonder if they'll tow that line if they become big man on campus , which I'm not so sure is a foregone conclusion
 
What I meant about the downsizing my friends was if It were possible to suddenly go cold turkey on our overseas engagements it would go a loooooooonnnnng ways towards reducing our catastrophic debt, sure many jobs would go bye bye in many states because the damned military contractors and the banks that all to willingly lend to them were f@#&1ng smart and spread the wealth amongst us but we know that isn't politically feasible. It ain't going to happen so we are facing a worse alternative.

I hear you man. I have been very cynical for a long time, but I guess it all built up to a point over a year ago and I got politically active.
I go to a lot of protests and help where I can :-) that is what freedom and democracy is all about... its not meant to be passive it is meant to be active.
