I know alot of people that use this site may be atheist ,agnostic etc but i'm just curious if there any christians that think the founder of wiki leaks Julian Assange is the anti christ , he is the last person to suspect , but with all the intelligence wikileaks is leaking , its bond to piss off alot of nations.

When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

revelation 6:3-4

Luckily we don't have to worry about.

If it came from the bible, it is bullshit..... Move along folks.. nothing more to see here.

We've had many people who could fit the part of the antichrist. From Napoleon to Hitler, every generation has found the need to identify its supervillain (frequently ocluding many other contemporary villains). That tells us a lot about the collective needs of societies (specially the ones founded around christianism), but few other conclusions can be extracted from there. I also think that this Wikileaks business is a bit overrated. To this moment I've read nothing there that can be qualified as truly new, shattering or unexpected. Any person who knows a bit about history and politics won't be surprised with the revelations brought forward by Assange.

discuss away. but IMO the bible as it is today after all the edits, translations, omissions, interpretations, etc etc... is bullshit.

Yeah, seems to be used more as a political tool than anything else. Accuse your opponent of being the Antichrist to emphasize your own "Christian" or moral values and to demonize your opponent....

Actually, it doesn't come from the Bible, which is the really odd thing about the whole "anti-christ" concept. The term only appears three times in the entire volume in the gospel of John and he's referring to people (not a person) who deliberately go against/speak out against the teachings of Christ. It's no different than if you were to say anti-gay, anti-muslim or anti-cupcakes, it doesn't denote evil per se, just a contrary position. Revelation (supposedly also authored by John) only ever makes reference to "the beast".

The whole "anti-christ as a persona" thing probably comes from the catholic church and gained most of it's noteriety through Nostradumbass' scribblings. Bottom line is, if you consider yourself a christian and believe in a literal bizarro-Jesus "anti-christ", then that's heresy.

The Bible is a historical text which many millions find interesting and its up to the individual interpretation. In addition, we have free speech and it good to see in use although some think evolution is shit as well.:) I rather keep a open mind to both.

The bible is historical, just like the Harry Potter novels are an accurate account of what happened when the boy that lived defeated the who shall not be named.

That's not fair, Angel, the Bible is most certainly an historical text... in the sense that it exists and was cobbled together over several centuries, that is. Other than that it's quasi-historical or historical fiction. Like Robin Hood, England's a real place, John and Richard were really kings, the rest is up for grabs.

Perhaps, but we get into trouble when people start classifying stuff like the old testament as historical. Genesis for instance did not happen, especially not 6000 years ago. If one wants to use it as a metaphor for the creation of the universe, I'm cool with that. I'm not cool with those that want to "teach the controversy" and talk about it as science. I take offense to that.

Glad to see Angelo you were around back then to see that Genesis was not written 6000 years ago.:) Yes the Bible is a historical text which is kept in ceremony positions in today's society maybe you should attend the opening of Congress or West Parliamentary Systems and look what sits next to speaker ? and what does the USA president put his hand on during his speech before taking office ? Angelo tell me if Masonic lodge are religious ? and how many academics are members of all types studies and what do they use ? Its better to have a open minds with science as its expanding and discovering by non-religious scientist and religious scientist:) Who made the universe then Angelo and current sciences hypotheses are theories which can change with discoveries:)

Peace,
BF

alot of the tales in the bibles are old fables that have been changed by almost every single middle east and western civilisation over the last 2000 years , i watched a interesting
documentary ages ago about how alot of the tales actually originated from india and babylon , thed name of the documentary i forget but it was done extremely well . I think it was Lost civilisation series on discovery . I could be wrong , it was also talking about the end of the ice age etc .
You know historians used to say the story of Troy was only a fable , then it was proven to exist =P .

If you think the universe was created 6000 years ago you may hold to those beliefs, I have nothing against it. I only take issue with it when people try to say it is fact.

bingo. it has been interpreted, translated and edited to the taste of individual interpretations. it is nothing more than pure fiction. comic books have similar content and are a quicker read.

The Bible is a historical text

It is a pseudo-historical text if anything. It is more properly characterized as legend and myth. At least that is what I got out of studying the thing and its history for most of my life. What you have to realize is that the Bible, the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and every other "sacred text" out there were not constructed to communicate "fact" they are composed to communicate a "faith".

And CapnG has an excellent point. Most of what passes for popularized Christian Mythos isn't in the Bible in the first place.

.
Slim: Don't be so quick to judge. The world is much more complicated then we are able to know. There is belief, and there is empirical data. Faith has been around a lot longer than the Greek idea of what we call logic. Brushing off ancient knowledge as "bullshit" is a mistake. Most of the "true believers" in modern thought have little or no idea where their world view originated, or for that matter, how the physical world works. I have talked to a fair amount of western rationalist, who have no idea how a refrigerator cools, or how an airplane archives lift. They just have “faith” in science, which makes them no different than those they deride. Peace. zp

I agree that no one should push there agenda scientific or religions its up to the individual and no has the right to pressure them for choosing that's what free speech is about :) However, both religious or science inquiry can work together in finding the answers of the universe which maybe humanity is on a speck in it. Has anyone been into the Vatican library who knows whats hidden in it corridors as the same as the many private libraries of the world?
