The FDA's War On E-Cigarettes Will Kill People

Free episodes:

Just as a personal anecdote, I've been a heavy cigarette smoker for around 17 years and I just recently quit smoking cigarettes entirely and took up vaping. One month in and I haven't felt the need for an actual cigarette since I quit. Vaping is enjoyable whether quitting is your goal or not, but imo it has to be one of the most effective smoking cessation tools if used properly as it addresses not only the nicotine addiction but also the behavioral aspect, which is something that patches and gums don't do at all.

That being said, it's just going to be a matter of time before they clamp this thing down a bit, prices will rise almost certainly, as right now the Tobacco companies and the government are losing oodles of revenue. I saw the same thing happen not that long ago with the roll your own cigarette stations that were popping up all over my home state of Ohio. You could get a carton of pre-rolled cigarettes for around 15 dollars for about 6 months, until the Tobacco industry lobbyists figured out a way to convince the government to classify these mom and pop shops as cigarette manufacturers, even though the person buying had to sit at a machine and manufacture the cigarettes personally, with no help from store personnel, thus subjecting them to huge amounts of taxes, licensing fees and other nonsense.

They were out of business within weeks and I'm sure revenues increased across the board for those responsible for getting the ban implemented. Sad, really, that we continue to allow big business and the government to tell us what we can and can't put in our own bodies, as if they actually gave two shits. It's all about the money.

They definitely want to tax the hell out of it but that raises problems. The taxes on tobacco were sold to the public because tobacco is so harmful. Unless ecigs can be proven to be as harmful as cigarettes then they really can't justify the huge taxation.
