Miah - I would be thrilled if you ended up finding Mr. Ferris. As I think I mentioned on the episode, my address was 27 Patton Drive, Somerset, NY. The Ferris house was directly across the street from us. That would make the Ferris' what, 25, 26 or 28 Patton Drive. The year was 1972 or 73.

From the description from David below, we are looking at 28 Patton Dr. Somerset NJ 08873

The green arrow in the Google sat view below is deceiving, it is the house up-left of it with the pool in the back. The arrow is correct in the Satellite view and Zillow link below.

His old house is worth about $400k, not bad! You can click on houses here to check their addresses:
Zestimate
His house was last sold 09/06/2000

UPDATE: From the County Clerk's office we have found his and his wife's names. Francis and Vera Ferris owned the house from 1964-1981

Could this be him: http://www.daplus.us/PersonResults.aspx?...ner=400021

I've used an online public records facility - http://www.freeprf.com/ -and found several elderly people by the name of Ferris in NY state. Even if Mr. Ferris is not amongst them, could they be relatives?

Miah,

The Ferris home is the one up and to the left from that green arrow, we were directly across the street, and the Koehler's is the one with the swimming pool, next to ours (above it from the POV of that shot).

I do not remember Mr. Ferris' first name, sorry. I know he was married, and I think they had older children, but I never interacted with the kids, to my memory.

I have changed the Google map above, is it the one directly left of the green arrow now? (perhaps pool in back)

If so, that is 26 Patton Dr. It was last sold in 1971, so he should still be the owner!

I should be able to look up the owner's name by the tax records, trying to work my job at the same time :)

26 Patton seems to belong to a couple named Gray. Veromi.net shows several older people named Ferris who have had addresses in Somerset, NJ. Switchboard shows only one Ferris in Somerset, a Joseph who seems to be in his mid-late 30s. Maybe an obit search in Lexis-Nexis will be next.

Upon further review, the green arrow on the Google map above was fooling us, the one referred to is the 28 Patton Dr., which was last sold in 2000.

I have attached 2 more views.

David can correct me if I am wrong.

This case in NUFORC is interesting... could it be related? Note especially the description of the disk.

David, any thoughts on what lies in the area where you saw it coming over the trees? Might be interesting to see what lies in a straight line in that direction.

In my state, I can look up information on all previous owners of a given property, can't seem to do it on the NJ tax records search. I will call them in a few.

I found the following people with the last name FERRIS in Somerset:

CHARLES PATRICK FERRIS
CLYDE F FERRIS
JOSEPH L FERRIS

David, do any of those sound familiar? Are you pretty certain on the spelling? Do you live close enough to go do a tax search in the Somerset courthouse (it's free)?

Miah,

None of those ring a bell, but again, I did not know Mr. Ferris' first name - I was 11 when we moved to Venezuela.

I live about 1.5 hours away from Somerset, but have no plans on being near there in the immediate future (it being holiday season and all... I have enough other folks I'm supposed to see in the next few weeks).

I am on the phone now, trying to get help looking him up:

Hall of Records
Freehold, NJ
07728
US

Phone: +1 732 431 7402

They said to contact the 908-231-7128, got VM.

I called the County Clerk's office because their online records do not go that far back. Stephanie is supposed to look it up for me and call me back.

Stephanie called me back this morning!

Francis and Vera Ferris owned the house from 1964-1981.

This could be Vera, 83 and in Somerset:

Detective Miah! That's great...now for the corroborating anecdotal evidence. David, I hope Mr. Ferris remembers.

Good work, Miah! Vera Ferris is definitely the right person, she was really friendly with my Mom (and her name came right back to me when I saw your post), so Frank is certainly her husband.

I've had really bad experiences with Intelius in the past (just recently, trying to track down someone who ended up being deceased, when they listed her as otherwise), so I'll give Switchboard.com a shot tomorrow, and see if I can track down good phone #s. I would hope that Frank & Vera are still in good health, and with intact memories. I'll let everyone know what I find out.

Hmmmm.

You know, usually when I hear David (or any figure in the UFO community) talking about how their 'revelations' have adversely affected their lives I'm pretty skeptical. I become suspicious that the claim is there to invoke sympathy from the listener, for example "Look at me, look at all the trials I face! They are numerous but I struggle on, in the name of a good cause". Self-aggrandizement, I suppose, is what I usually consider these comments to be.

But this thread has me thinking that I might be wrong.

My previous reasoning went something like "David's a photo/video effects guy. 'Artist' types are generally known for being eccentric individuals. Someone in his field claiming to have seen UFO's or whatnot is about as shocking as hearing that Marilyn Manson buys human skeletons. I can't imagine anyone batting an eye or caring either way."

But now I'm thinking "Wow, if every time relayed one of my life experiences there were a crowd of anonymous people waiting to fact check, cross reference, verify, and possibly confront anyone I spoke about . . . that could do some serious damage to me socially. Plus, if I slip up on some little fact or get a name wrong there will be people just waiting to advertise it and question my integrity".

I see the issue in a different light now. I'm not sure the problem comes from talking about ones experiences, I suspect it's tied to having an anonymous fan base that may take unforeseen action any time a story is shared.

So . . . in light of this revelation I've decided to start my own paranormal podcast where I'll tell fantastic lies about esoteric experiences I've had. I'll name the people I dislike as witnesses and encourage my rabid fan base to hound them for details. That'll be good for a few laughs! :)

What's you point, dbtrek? If this your way of continuing to shit on the show, and me personally?

I don't appreciate it.

You make it obvious why I hesitate to speak about my experiences on the show - all that happens is that anonymous assholes like yourself take the opportunity to be gratuitously cruel, thinking that it shows how "cool" they are. I share my experiences out of the spirit of honest disclosure and a desire to have an actual conversation about them, perhaps arrive at some sort of understanding. I don't pretend to understand this stuff or have definitive answers, and I've nothing for sale in this realm.

So what's your beef with me?

dB

If anyone deserves banning for shit comments, DBTrek just fit the bill.

If someone is just being a troll, nothing but negative and nothing useful to add, fuck 'em. You got my vote.

But please don't continue this fight in this thread, it does not fit here.
