The Paracast Lands July 11, 2010!

GCN helped AJ garner a larger audience than beck and limbaugh. The Paracast should do quite well despite the fact that you may have lost your bloodthirsty thug and loon audience. :D

I just checked GCN's website. Jones is only on 6 Stations with more than 5000 watts, and not a single major market. It would be quite a surprise if Jones could document an audience--one with any appeal to advertisers--that exceeds Beck and Limbaugh. Certainly those two, regardless of political predisposition, are major media figures. Jones is a minor player at best. Would you share the source of that contention?

I can't stand either Beck or Limbaugh, hypocritical oxygen thieving demagogues of the highest order, but they definitely have an audience. To say that Jones, a fringe figure within the mainstream, is even close to their media penetration is ludicrous.

No question Alex Jones doesn't have the reach of guys like Beck and Limbaugh in radio listeners ( I cannot stand either of them as well), but you are downplaying (or simply not aware) of the audience he has. It's not just about simply his radio numbers as he also has a huge podcast following and his shows uploaded to Youtube daily by fans. He has also thousands of listeners and watchers of his Prisonplanet.tv shows that simulcast the show live in audio and video. In the aggregate, his videos of both documentaries and clips get millions of views. He has huge websites that are much higher rated by Alexa then pf the two guys you mentioned that Drudge picks up on pretty much daily now.

Anyways, best of luck with the show on the station that he made as popular as it is now. :)

Are we going to listen to all of the commercials on the podcast still? I didn't mind the occasional commercial for Gene's Book or for the newsletters, but I'm not sure I'd want to listen to all of the commercial breaks. Is it possible to get rid of most of the commercials on the podcast?

Fast forward.

That's the best I can offer. We have to carry both our ads and those of the network. Part of the deal we have with them. They use a standard network clock that covers ours, the network and local radio station ads. Pretty much all radio networks follow the same setup.

We cut out the news blocks though.

Understandable. I'm sure I'll get used to them. I liked that the podcasts had limited interruptions, but that's the price we pay for getting the word out there. I'd rather have that opportunity than not have commercials.

Nice job with keeping the program in the same format and not giving in to the Mold. Good on ya!

Remember that our podcast is simply a copy of the actual show generated by the network, not a special version. We might offer special episodes in the future with limited or no ads, but if we do, it would have to be as part of a premium service. Don't know how that would be greeted, though. I just don't think people have enough disposable income to warrant that right now.

The commercials that the network has are quite different from the regular Paracast commercials. They sounded a little alarmist to be honest, especially that e-foods guy and the Midas touch thing touting gold. Anyway, they don't have an effect on the quality of the podcast.
I found it easy to fast forward past them and get to the actual show.

They sell what they can sell. :)

Man, sorry to hear that. You lost me. I can take limited interruptions but not that many. Too bad. It's good for you but bad for me.

People expect to get high-quality programming, but they don't want to pay for it, nor do they want to listen to commercials, which is the indirect way that it gets paid for. Great.

I don't know what you do for a living, Cybernia, but let's try it this way - how about you go to work every day for free.

This kind of thing seriously pisses me off. It's right up there with the entire illegal download thing.

Some People are very demanding even though they don't have to pay for what they complain about. Get a reality check some of you listeners.

Yeah, a few people posted similar thoughts on iTunes. Theme, get rid of the commercials. How, pray tell, are we supposed to do that? Tell GCN and the local stations not to sell them and give all the time back to us? Just asking.

On the positive side of the fence, you get 12 minutes more content this way. :)

You provide a great show for free what's waiting a few minutes for those who listen live? When you download the show, by way of the archives. You can skip past the commercials anyway, too much complaining over nothing if you ask me.
