I know I'll probably get in the neck from some round here but I'd go for either Mogul or some other secret project (not sure what to think having read Redfern's "...in the desert" book)

Why?.....
Roswell is a story that has many versions to it. The whole story of Roswell is based on opinions, and hear say, with little evidence to back up the claims. But yet we do have little pointers of evidence e.g 1 press release 2 witness testimony 3 hoover memo, and 4 ufologists study of the subject.

In short if you didnt witness the event.
The only ask answer you could give is( I DONT KNOW) the rest are just a matter of opinion.lol sorry guys i might seem a bit touchy by this post:p
 
Coincidentally Kevin Randle blogged yesterday with some more thoughts on Roswell and why Mogul is *not* a good explanation. The blog post is here if anyone's interested!

Of course nobody knows, but surely some of you peeps are inclined to think one thing over another, even if you're 51/49 for one thing. :p
 
If it's Mogul, it's a pity the AF just didn't whip out a document proving it. I figure there would be a paper trail.

The GAO concluded all documents relating to the Roswell incident were illegally destroyed. This has interested me for many years now.

Something to look at, that isn't commonly discussed is David Rudiak's work on the Ramey memo in one of the Marcel pics. Roswell Proof -- Ramey Memo
 
The thing is, for me the entire explanation fits mogul except for one small detail which could easily be down to human error. The description of the material sounds like mogul, the photos of the material is definately mogul everything.
The only thing that would suggest its not mogul is that I think it was Jesse said they switched the material, and he's the one who got famous out of the story so of course he would say that.
To me it seems so clearly mogul...

My instinct says given the date and timing - I feel that this could have been a Psyop strategy by the US and USSR.
 
Well so far almost everyone has selected 'i dont know', and in truth of course no-one knows. As for the other selections, its very even all round.
I think it is the exact reason why the debate/legend/argument continues, because nobody really has any clue.

In summary, I think it comes down to two key areas.
  1. Are the MJ12 documents real
  2. Was Jesse Marcel telling the truth about how the debris was switched
If the documents are real, then its likely a craft really crashed. If they arent real, but Jesse was telling the truth, or was correct in his assesment of the situation, the again its likely the craft crashed and they found it. If the documents are faked, and Jesse was either lying or he didnt assess the situation correctly, then its likely nothing really crashed and it was mogul or some other situation... of course all of this is my opinion and there could have been other crashes

Sadly, we'll probably never know.. but once i have finished the last few chapters of Dolans book, i'll start on a copy of Stan Friedmans latest.

By the way, wasnt there some sort of paracast deal for his book?
I want to make sure i order it direct from him so the guy gets as much of a markup on the money as possible, i would have done the same with Dolan if i wasnt so impatient about recieving it quickly.
 
I opted for 'don't know'. Although I feel something came down in the desert, so much time has passed, and so many conflicting stories told, that I doubt we can ever uncover the truth behind Roswell. The whole issue has also been flogged to death by various parties, often to push their personal agendas, further adding to the intrigue and confusion surrounding the whole pantomime.

If an alien craft really did come down, no-one's going to be admitting that any time soon. And even if the crashed saucer theory could be utterly disproven, many die-hards would still refuse to accept it, and insist on clinging to their holy grail of ufology. My personal feeling is that too many people have pinned all their hopes on Roswell as the make or break case of ufology, THE case that will prove or disprove the existence of ET. For that reason alone, I'd prefer to see research moving on from Roswell, and heading elsewhere instead.

If you want to read about Roswell/MJ12 youre probably better off getting his other books first. While Flying Saucers and Science does deal with the stuff, its not nearly as detailed.

I thnk theyre called Crash at Corona, and Top Secret Majic.

I think the reason people keep going back to Roswell, is because it is the incident which determines how much the government knows.
If the Roswell incident had never happened, then we would be left with the usual denials which we all know the government is just giving as a knee jerk response to stop people going mad. Its nothing particularly exciting, of course they are going to deny it.

However, Roswell was right at the begginning of the UFO wave, and if there was a real cover up there, then it shows that the government has a real hidden agenda, with a massive infra-structure around hidding it.
In short, it is the ultimate conspiracy theory. Forget JFK, forget 911...
Having a craft from another world, and keeping it hidden whilst still studying it in great detail for 60 odd years is some conspiracy

Its the conspiracy that keeps people coming back. Peiople love a conspiracy, and without Roswell, it makes the whole situation much less of a conspiracy and mnre a case of the government basically being as bewildered as everyone else.

Military and civilian analysts are not stupid most of the time lol. In 1947 they probably did have a crash of sometype of craft?

They probably looked at the witness statements around the time of the crash? what material would resemble what the witness's described? below is a conversation that might have took place lol this a silly version of course, if there was a conversation, it probably more sophisticated than the one i have presented lol

Not sure, but if Mogul was used as a cover up, i think it was used as a cover up at the time as it really does appear to be what is in the photo with Jesse Marcel. Polygraphs are fairly crap anyway i think
 
Ya we have a weather ballon in the picture. But the military has changed their story once again to a new version that contains dummies lol.
It almost seems like they are clueless themselves?
