The other point i'd make is if we let the hoax's make us so jaded, so gun shy, that we just dismiss everything including potential real evidence without even looking at it, then we may as well bury Ufology here and now and be done with the topic.

I mostly agree again. I don't think anyone in Ufology actually dismisses everything before looking at it. The problem with big "events" such as this though is that they become something of a problem. For instance, there was a poster on one of Kevin Randle's recent pieces still going to bat for the Alien Autopsy disaster. Maybe there is no right answer to counter the nonsense. Which is too bad since what should be treated as just an old wives tale or is more more serious than an urban legend gets lumped in with serious work.

Yeah internet anonymity isnt as simple as changing your IP addy and handle, you need to change your patterns as well.

If you keep using the same buzz words, spelling quirks and grammar mistakes, ppl will still recognise you.

In my role as moderator at another site i specialised in tracking sockpuppets this way. had a very high sucess rate

Check pages 15/16ish of this thread where DS is talking about Adam Dew. He quotes himself verbatim posting as "ebikesrc" on:

That's how us PIA folks tracked him back to here. He loves that copy and paste. And he chose the same nickname at PIA.

The big question now is, is he telling the truth, ie his IP and computer got hacked by someone here as he claims and that it was used to embroil him in a serious crime ?.

There are a number of possibilities i can think of, one of which will remain unvoiced here

If he is telling the truth and hes been paid a visit by law enforcement, then i feel bad for him

If he got hacked then there are two possibilities it was random or it was targeted.

He seems to think it was targeted, and pointed the finger here.

But it seems to me (if true) thats its more likely given his habits, it was random. He admits to using remote console software, and Proxy server sites to spoof his IP. Not all those sites are honest.

I'd say the odds are much much higher he picked up malware/hacker via his online habits (which hes documented in that link), than someone here did it to him as revenge.

When the "dream team" was hacked I figuired the key players got hit but kept my eyes out for who. They still don't know who it is but apparently a complaint was filed with FBI. Also yesterday Rich Reynolds shared with Nick Redfern a document that had been sent to him that had been "altered." This may all be multiple, different people because I'm not sure any of us would be considered in the loop.

One of the regular posters in this thread has posted at another site that he got hacked and now the FBI are knocking on his door.
He also alludes to his suspicion that it was done via this forum and or one of its members.

Throw in the whole dream team got hacked over the slides matter and it gets more interesting, although my guess is as posted he was using dodgy proxy server sites to spoof his IP and got done that way
