Walter Bosley and Empire of the Wheel II: Friends From Sonora

Free episodes:

Sheesh, if all the questions get answered in the Question Bank what will be left?

Walter, I listen to you often on Greg's podcast and did hear your previous discussion on your most recent book on his show. Here's a couple of questions for the show:

  • You often connect together very disparate pieces of research, which then get translated, reinterpreted and connected to form very complex historical tapestries. Would you describe yourself as a revisionist historian, a speculator of alternative historical realities, a connoisseur of the unusual - how woud you describe the type of writing and research you complete?
  • Regarding Charles Dellschau: most ufologists discount the reality of NYMZA as nothing but the sudden creative, sexualized output of an outsider artist motivated by a sad personal history and the effects of Alzheimer's disease. What concrete facts lead you to believe otherwise? Do you have any proof of the secret element used to inflate these airships?
  • Given your personal background in national security you strike me more as a character from the X-files than a real figure. Describe please what is behind your own esoteric, paranormal and Ufological interests. Shouldn't you be more rooted in a critical, skeptical vision of the world? Is there anything you experienced through your previous work that has led you to believe that there are inhuman forces at work on our planet?

That's why I'm (not too successfully, lol) resisting further comment here :)

1. I am simply investigating some strange things with odd connections in the area where I live and how they appear to be linked to the bigger picture. :)

2. I disagree with most ufologists on a LOT of stuff. My books are not about ufology. In fact I won't even discuss 'ufology', if I can avoid it. Ufologist opinion of what I do is, respectfully, not much on my mind as I do my research and write the books. Ufologist opinion of Dellschau is what it is and serves that agenda. I've heard the sexual interpretation, LOL. Whatever. The book presents what convinces me there was more to Dellschau than what his detractors have concluded. :)

3. Who says I don't have a skeptical view of things? I'm skeptical of political things and of much of the stuff most people are alarmed about these days. Also, being an investigator doesn't mean you go around like a curmudgeon assuming everyone is a liar or everything is BS until they or it proves otherwise. In my profession, my job was to look for, observe and report evidence and activity. If I go into an investigation from the attitude that an allegation or theory is most likely crap, I am going to miss stuff that may prove otherwise. Such an assumption is the sign of someone who has either never been a professional investigator or not an honest (nor very good) one. I think what you're asking comes in after the investigation. If I find nothing to support a theory, I admit it. I don't get bent out of shape. I say, "Hm, I found nothing there, onto the next thing". That's where my professional background comes in. My EOW books do not get into "inhuman forces" per se. They do present the suggestion that perpetrators of crimes may have been motivated by such. I've had experiences that have shown me certain things. But no point to discuss such personal experiences because I cannot prove them here and you will not likely be convinced. Chris expressed an interest in my work, I respect what he does, and he asked me to be on. And, for the record, yes I have a book for sale, though my view is 'Buy it, or don't'. :)

I look forward to the interview. Also, I'm assuming Chris and Gene have read the book(s) and are familiar enough with the material to have plenty of their own questions so we should have enough to fill the time. :)

:)

Oh! You mean irrelevant to what you want to talk about! LOL :)

Not exactly. My particular questions aren't the issue. I'll try to be more clear:
  • Your promotional material here says: "Walter Bosley is a former AFOSI Special Agent and FBI counterintelligence specialist who now works as a private investigator and counterespionage consultant."
  • The above obviously leads people to believe you're interested in those topics and perhaps have something to say about them based on your personal experience.
  • So I asked some questions related directly to Intelligence that are connected to topics we've been discussing here on the forum ( ECHELON, Snowden, MJ-12 )
  • You replied: " I don't have the slightest bit of interest in discussing your questions' topics on the air. Not to be rude, but the stuff doesn't interest me that much."
Do you see my point yet? If you don't want questions related to your Intelligence experience, it might be wiser to not feature it so prominently in your promotional material. Even here @Gene Steinberg introduces you as "Walter Bosley, a former counterintelligence agent." But if you don't think I have a valid point, fine, whatever. Your work on the airships should still be interesting and I'm looking forward to it.

Ufology, when I'm on any show, I'm there primarily to discuss the reason I've been asked to be on the show, in this case my EOW research. Any guest reserves the right to not comment about things upon which they're not interested in commenting. Consider my background as bonafides to do research and investigations, especially into things that might have an intelligence association, like my EOW research. Going on a show is not being summoned to a court to answer compulsory questions, lol. Citing my background does not mean I'm obligated to answer questions about the related issues of the day, and exercising the right not to does not mean I should consider not citing it. My resume is my resume, lol. If you're asking me about MY experiences in the intel community, that's different. Not having an interest in discussing topics you want to discuss, especially when that's not the reason I'm invited, is my choice. :)

The fact is, I'm not all that worked up enough about Snowden, Echelon, etc, to want to spend time giving an opinion based on no real knowledge of the case other than what we all hear in the media. I would think the Paracast listeners would appreciate my honesty rather than for me to blab about a situation on which I've already commented to the fullest extent I can: I think there is something more to the situation and he's not what he seems. Beyond that, the topic isn't really all that interesting to me. Neither is discussing Echelon. :)

Now, if your questions relate to the topic I've been invited to discuss, I'm there tomorrow to answer them. However, I've been on shows where the host hasn't read the material, chats about it for five or ten minutes, then spends the remaining hour or two making me talk about non-related topics in which I am no longer even interested. Commenting on the intel events or scandals of the day are among those topics. UFOs are the big one I just hate to talk about anymore. :)

Perhaps you're simply not that interested in my EOW research. That's OK. But that's pretty much what I'm going to talk about. :)

I haven't read either book so maybe this had been touched on but is this storyline going to eventually involve the manson family and tbe zodiac killer? Considering where the events of EOW take place and The Great Beast passed through and that manson had some connection to the region, I've always been bothered that cult activity seems integrated with southrrn california and the excuse that california is the land of fruit and nuts... though it may be true...strikes me as a little pat

( Dont answer here please Walter )

Zodiac Killer gets a chapter in EOW1 and will be discussed again in EOW3. EOW2 has a different focus. EOW3 doesn't involve Manson beyond a general mention, thus far.

aaawww fudge, and I did want to hear my question asked on the air but seriously Walter Thanks for answering.im not being a smartass when I say that those elements you mention DO intrigue me enough to take tbe splurge. Now if tbere is any synchronistic elements involved then you really do have me hooked.

Thanks to Chris and Gene for having me on. I really enjoyed and appreciate the opportunity to discuss my research on the EOW mystery.

SpookyMulder: MUCH synchronicity in the background of this entire investigation. However, I do not discuss such things publicly anymore.

Stagger Lee: Nothing about cattle mutilations arose in this investigation so far and there is only one angle of possibility that it would, which is being considered in the research on the third book.

Hi I'm from South Africa and I was wondering if you know why Nelson Mandela was on the CIA terrorist watch list until 2008? Also do you know anything about his capture by the CIA which led to his 35 year imprisonment? Any other interesting news related to South Africa you could possibly share with me?

When an author decides to write about paranormal/ufo topics that take place from a century ago, ultimately nothing can be proved. It is mostly speculation. So why investigate this in the first place?

OK, now that the interview is recorded, I guess no one will mind if I hijack this thread a little further to clarify a few things.
Polterwurst,
Here's my suggestion: You admit you're "new to all this". Rather than pointedly question those who are not new to all this, it may be best to actually catch yourself up. Read my book to see what it actually is about; read other books. Do your homework, bring yourself up to speed, then you'll have a better grasp on who is saying what and where they're actually coming from. It's sort of going about it backwards expecting "veterans" (so to speak) of this stuff to have to step back to address things many others already know. I'm sincerely not trying to be rude. :).

Thank you. So am I, even if it might not seem that way. If my assumptions are wrong, I apologize, but after all I had heard on that Radio Misterioso interview and what I had read about the book, I was (and still am) of the opinion that you are quite forcefully trying to take the "airship mystery" and make it into some forerunner of the Nazi-UFO-myth.

(Yes, I know they were looking for a miracle weapon and they obviously tried to gain air superiority but that doesn't mean they found the secret to anti gravity or are secretly planning to take over the world in their Antarctica hideout right now.)

You're right, I can't pass any judgement if I haven't even read the book and done some research. But I guess, to catch myself up, I should read some of the basic - and less speculative - stuff first.

Until a few years ago, like most of my countrymen, I thought that all this UFO stuff was utter nonsense. That's what I'd been taught practically from the first time I had seen something about the subject on TV or in a newspaper article. It was all just weird people believing weird things. Then I stumbled over a few very credible witness reports on the internet, like that of Parviz Jafari, the 2007 National Press Club conference with the (ex-) commercial and military pilots, and slowly I came around to the opinion that these people had obviously seen something they couldn't explain. And many of them I trusted to be able to tell some natural phenomenon / prototype aircraft / flare / rocket launch from something really anomalous. So the question became, why is there no serious research? Why are these people still laughed at?

The answer I came to was not "because of the evil debunkers" or "the evil government cover-up", not even because of the hoaxers but "because of the wild theories and claims some people in this ufology mess seem to generate like weekly sitcom screenwriters".

Maybe research in the field would stand a chance of being considered serious, if the researchers wouldn't have to fear being compared to these charlatans and tall-tale-tellers. Maybe the honest witnesses that have been ridiculed over the years would have a chance to be redeemed if not every credible sighting would be trumped at once by at least three wild speculations and stories about some naked Annunaki peeping through someone's backyard window.

At first I laughed at the idea that there was some concerted effort to discredit the whole field by putting out at least some of these stories deliberately. The hope to make some money and fame by coming up with a new speculation just at the time the ufology audience gets bored, or by claiming to be in contact with an insectoid from Nibiru or something should be enough to spawn them.

Maybe it's just a question of supply and demand. Lots of people look at ufology as a supplier of entertainment, curious stories and weird theories to ponder, so naturally there's going to be people who have no problem with resorting to hair raising speculations and obviously fabricated stories to cater to that demand (the Nazi UFOs being just one example for the latter, but they annoy me no end, as you might have noticed).

But over time, I stumbled over more and more of these ex government employees who were in this catering business, whose stories were either totally outrageous and crazy or they looked interesting at first but fell apart readily when examined closer. Both ways, they made the whole field look even more ridiculous and were further damaging the credibility of the honest witnesses.

It's actually too obvious to be a conspiracy theory. You either believe that these credentialed people, who should be paragons of honor and trustworthyness, are all charlatans, trying to make a fast buck, fantasy prone or plain crazy or you subscribe to the idea that they might get a nice inofficial pension to put out these stories by someone linked to their former employers. Both options seem equally improbable to me. If it was only one or two of these "whistle blowers", I'd go for the first option, but they keep coming.

But what do I know. I'll shut up now and try to bring myself up to speed. Which includes listening to the interview, I guess. And maybe reading the book. As I said, if my assumptions regarding the proto Nazi UFO myth and your motivations are wrong, I heartily apologize.

I hope tbe GeneNChris came up with better questions than we did, we were shooting blanks. This question bank was more like a chat room.

Well if Walter could've contained himself more perhaps a broader personality and more developed episode than the last one could have came out on the air. I haven't heard it yet so I'm just shooting marbles here, but I think these questions alone, along with the EOW discussion, would make for a unique episode. Maybe Mr. Bosley just wanted to talk about his book?

I do appreciate, though, when guests answer unanswered questions here in the q. bank or on the show forum. But, yes, definitely a chat room - reminds me of Radio Misterioso.

"Contained" myself. LOL :D I suppose guests don't usually get involved in the question bank. I just figured I'd be honest and clarify what the discussion wouldn't be so people would be able to decide if they want to listen or not. :)

Yes, I was on to talk about my research and Chris and Gene did a great job filling the time with that. Consider that the interview is titled 'Walter Bosley and Empire of the Wheel II: Friends From Sonora'. That's a clue. ;)

Anyway, I was pleased with the discussion with Gene and Chris yesterday. However, I'm sure I said something that will provide opportunity for my critics to be entertained as well, so I'd say it is well-rounded. I've been working steadily on the topic for a few years now and am still going, so I sincerely appreciated the opportunity to discuss it in a focused interview. Chris and Gene seemed genuinely interested in the topic and that made for a good episode, I think. You be the judge. :)

Yeah, I am selling something. Is that a bad thing, in your opinion? That I would find amusing. I thought being critical of someone selling a book on their research was passe by now. Is that still a thing with some people? :)

Of course, the interview is free and no one is compelled to buy anything, now are they? :)

I think we need a bit of a clarification about people getting paid for their work.

There seems a feeling that any person involved in paranormal research is somehow tainted if they earn money from the sale of books or videos, or get paid to do lectures.

After all, traditional scientists don't work free, nor should you expect anyone to work without some remuneration.

Yes, if someone is lying in order to get paid for something, that would make them — politicians.

i did hear walter on dmr earlier this year but i got in late on the discussion and to be honest there was so much info being put out i had a hard time in keeping up so i downloaded the show again...just yesterday...and now i have a much better appreciation of walter is on to. i know he mentioned he doesn't want to talk about such things but i have a great appreciation for synchronicity and i after googling some key words i found mike clellands amazon review. mike like i, has a great interest in this subject and thus i downloaded both EOW books from amazon and also walter's appearance on radio misterioso and hidden experience

again, i know you (walter, if you are reading this) would rather not mention such issues and that's your preogative but being that you do appear on shows whose audience would certainly appreciate such an element is it such a bad thing to acknowledge without having someone like me mention it in passing? while i did understand there was a series of connections between the people mentioned in your books it wasn't until you acknowledged as much in a response to me that i got really hooked . i just thought that your books were about the occult element with the great airship mystery as an background element

looking forward to midnight sunday

fwiw i am going to commit paracast heresey and also mention that i don't have a particularly strong interest in UFOs or debating their existence as much as discussing how it interplays with our belief systems and emotional being. As i mentioned in the "your personal experiences thread" it wasn't until i heard about supposed connections between UFOs and synchronicity and cryptids such as mothman and synchronicity that i delved in and joined this forum.
