Here is a list of quotes so let us have a chat about them.

"Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it." Woodrow Wilson

"The real menace of our republic is this invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy length over city, state and nation. Like the octopus of real life, it operates under cover of a self created screen....At the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller Standard Oil interests and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as international bankers. The little coterie of powerful international bankers virtually run the United States government for their own selfish purposes. They practically control both political parties." New York City Mayor John F. Hylan, 1922

"From the days of Sparticus, Wieskhopf, Karl Marx, Trotsky, Rosa Luxemberg, and Emma Goldman, this world conspiracy has been steadily growing. This conspiracy played a definite recognizable role in the tragedy of the French revolution. It has been the mainspring of every subversive movement during the 19th century. And now at last this band of extraordinary personalities from the underworld of the great cities of Europe and America have gripped the Russian people by the hair of their head and have become the undisputed masters of that enormous empire." Winston Churchill

"The government of the Western nations, whether monarchical or republican, had passed into the invisible hands of a plutocracy, international in power and grasp. It was, I venture to suggest, this semioccult power which....pushed the mass of the American people into the cauldron of World War I." British military historian Major General J.F.C. Fuller, l94

"For a long time I felt that FDR had developed many thoughts and ideas that were his own to benefit this country, the United States. But, he didn't. Most of his thoughts, his political ammunition, as it were, were carefully manufactured for him in advanced by the Council on Foreign Relations-One World Money group. Brilliantly, with great gusto, like a fine piece of artillery, he exploded that prepared "ammunition" in the middle of an unsuspecting target, the American people, and thus paid off and returned his internationalist political support.

"The UN is but a long-range, international banking apparatus clearly set up for financial and economic profit by a small group of powerful One-World revolutionaries, hungry for profit and power.

"The depression was the calculated 'shearing' of the public by the World Money powers, triggered by the planned sudden shortage of supply of call money in the New York money market....The One World Government leaders and their ever close bankers have now acquired full control of the money and credit machinery of the U.S. via the creation of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank." Curtis Dall, FDR's son-in-law

"The drive of the Rockefellers and their allies is to create a one-world government combining supercapitalism and Communism under the same tent, all under their control.... Do I mean conspiracy? Yes I do. I am convinced there is such a plot, international in scope, generations old in planning, and incredibly evil in intent."

Congressman Larry P. McDonald, 1976, killed in the Korean Airlines 747 that was shot down by the Soviets

here are a few more to add a bit more color to the thread.

"We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the work is now much more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto determination practiced in past centuries."

David Rockefeller, founder of the Trilateral Commission, in an address to a meeting of The Trilateral Commission, in June, 1991.

"There is no such thing as an independent press in America, unless it is out in the country towns. You are all slaves. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to express an honest opinion. If you express it you know beforehand that it will not appear in print. I am paid l50 dol. per week for keeping honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things. If I should allow honest opinions to be printed in one issue of my paper, like Othello, my occupation would be gone. The business of a leading journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread, or his salary. You know this, and I know it, and what foolery to be toasting an " independent press." We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the string and we dance. Our time, our talent, our possibilities are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes." John Swinton, fmr editor of new york times

"The Trilateral Commission is intended to be the vehicle for multinational consolidation of the commercial and banking interests by seizing control of the political government of the United States. The Trilateral Commission represents a skillful, coordinated effort to seize control and consolidate the four centers of power political, monetary, intellectual and ecclesiastical. What the Trilateral Commission intends is to create a worldwide economic power superior to the political governments of the nationstates involved. As managers and creators of the system ,they will rule the future. Senator Barry Goldwater

"In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interest, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press....They found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest papers.

"An agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interests of the purchasers."

U.S. Congressman Oscar Callaway, 1917

"There does exist and has existed for a generation, an international . . . network which operates, to some extent, in the way the radical right believes the Communists act. In fact, this network, which we may identify as the Round Table Groups, has no aversion to cooperating with the Communists, or any other groups and frequently does so. I know of the operations of this network because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960s, to examine its papers and secret records. I have no aversion to it or to most of its aims and have, for much of my life, been close to it and to many of its instruments. I have objected, both in the past and recently, to a few of its policies . . . but in general my chief difference of opinion is that it wishes to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known." Carroll Quigley, Bill clinton mentor

“It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” Henry Ford

and some thing else to add to this pile.... I am not sure what I am trying to get at frankly but hey let us join the dots.

There's no doubt that the wealth of the world isn't fairly distributed and that personal greed often takes precedence over moral values. But here's another quote:
Winston Churchill. “You don't make the poor richer by making the rich poorer.”

Although I certainly agree with above, so far as I'm concerned it's still not a bad place to start. And by this I don't mean confiscating their wealth or even raising taxes. And it's certainly not necessary to reduce all the rich to the level of street people, but there is plenty of excess at the top that can and often should be redistributed downward to the workers in the form of higher pay, benefits and pensions. Still, these amounts pale in comparison to the huge military expendetures we've seen to wage war in the Middle East ( not to mention the lives ). And don't get me wrong here. I have respect for those soldiers who are performing their duty in good conscience, and it would be foolish to think that no threat at all exists. But it seems to me that it should have been handled differently.

Good posts stoney. Makes me sad tho, the greed. These greedy men no doubt have very small willies and the women have big ones.

If there is a judgement after death ~I wonder what excuses the very rich will try to use? I understand that there needs to rich people to a degree but does any one person need more than $50m? Also I don't think any one person should be allowed to own large areas of land. No-one can claim ownership of a piece of the planet! A big house and a big garden -nobody needs more than that!

I 100% believe there is an un-elected power/wealth elite. It's no theory.

our past president didnt warn us, he actually told us The New World Order will be successful here and he was right, it is here right now.

Thanks for joining in all.

So then can we meet a consensus that there is most certainly a shadow group that has colluded for its own ends.

This may only have been as far back as say the 1600s or the 1800s but is there an agenda and if so what do we know about it.

This is my lines of thought so far.

In all honesty I am trying to work this out without getting the Tin Foil hat out if you know what I mean, for it seems obvious that there is a conspiracy but the Tin Foil hat brigade has done nothing but muddy the waters.

common good for the little people would be nice. anything the UN is involved with is usually for the common good of the elite that these men above have warned about for many many years.

Did you read the Daclaration of Human Rights? I'm not saying that the UN doesn't have some serious problems. But there are always problems when you combine politics with power. Here are some of the more positive things the UN has been involved with. Peace and Security — 60 Ways the United Nations Makes a Difference

Personally i have no issue with a global govt.

There are a list of pros and cons with any idea, but i think there could be some advantages to a global govt.

I also wonder if it isnt the natural progression of any sentient system to go down this path.

Regional governors made sense in the days when transport and communication meant long delays in the decision making process.

I also wonder if the "contact" scenario reflects a larger trend ie global goverance.

I consider its possible its a prerequistite for contact.

Those most opposed to the idea of a World Government are those with their own system that they prefer would take over rather than any unified effort of free regions e.g. "That all nations shall bend to the will of Allah", or whatever other ideology or political theory they would prefer see the world run under. A possible "prerequisite for contact" is an interesting concept. It implies that the alien's surveillance is interested in our social structure and has some possible interest in making contact under circumstances that you and I would agree would be favorable, presumably because such a unification would be a natural and peaceful evolution of our culture ( Yes I'm still an idealist at heart ).

a global government is a very bad idea. think about it. the cultural differences between different people would make it a nightmare scenario.

As i said like any proposition there is a black and white mirror, a list of pros and cons.

As transport and communications improve cultural gaps shrink.
An example of this has been cited in the so called arab spring, that as youth of one culture see the freedoms of another on the internet, they want the same for themselves.

I remember one of the shuttle astronauts joking "where are the lines ?" as he looked down from orbit.

I think there is something profound in this observation. From space europe is a single continent, not a jumble of nation states with imaginary borders marked as lines on a map.
So too the whole planet is a single location.
A great many of its problems could be solved if looked at from that unified perspective imo.

The world has changed size in recent times, with the invention of steam and railroads it got smaller, with the invention of air travel smaller still. The internet has shrunk it again, i can now "see" anywhere in the world in real time.
A message that took weeks to deliver even Par avon, now arrives a second after i send it, not to the letterbox at the end of the driveway, but right into the pocket of the person receiving it, no matter where they are via smart phone or laptop.

In 1768 Cook departed from Plymouth on 26 August , carrying 94 people and 18 months of provisions to observe the transit of venus

Today you can watch it from home no matter where it happens, you can even see it from space thanks to the solar observatory in orbit.

transit of venus - YouTube.

The internet has created a generation of global citizens, where once you signed a petition to the local council at the local shops, today your inbox gets requests (or at least mine does) to sign petitions pertaining to matters all over the planet.

From space you cannot see borders and nations, just a collective of land masses, dominated by a single species.

Cultures are merging, we hear the term multicultural all the time now, Australia is a Multicultural nation, and it is not a nightmare scenario.
Ive seen before my very eyes the old prejudices dissolve, Asians ,greeks, italians caucasion and native peoples all forming a single society.
Segregation and Apartheid are gone
Equality between races and the sexes has been enshrined not just in the legislations, but also the hearts and minds of the populace.

From space its a single planet, its going to require single solutions to its global problems.

And i cant help but ponder if in the larger galactic picture, the history has shown its better to wait until a planets technology creates a global culture, before you contact them.

That to do so before this happens only makes the problems of a pre unity culture worse

A global govt would mean mostly catering to the largest populations - China/India/South East Asia etc.

I would be worried that smaller cultures might get swept away by larger ones?

All cultures evolve and change and an effective world government would require changes on a global level to all cultures. So perhaps it wouldn't be so much like sweeping cultures away as a global cultural evolution into something better for us all ( there goes my optimism again ).

Keep in mind also that that scenario has already happened many many times.

Is happening right now, thus i dont believe we can lay it at the feet of a proposed GG.

It has happened, is happening, will happen either way

I just don't want to be governed by a world majority which would be different to a majority in the UK.
Anyway, what WE want matters not a jot-a-lot. The global power elite super rich land-owning reptilian upper-class twittage just wont allow it!

We're DOOOOOOOOOOMED.
