I wouldn't put it quite that way. That makes it sound like I'm whining over the fact that everyone else's thoughts don't match up with mine on questions of religion. However, the thing I'm actually taking issue with is the seemingly constant trashing of certain religiously informed points of view by so many individuals that this audience represents. I hoped I might learn something, but at each turn I can't help feeling like I just don't belong in this. Here's another example of what I'm talking about taken from your post ...
That strikes me as so stereotypical, unfair, exaggerated, and unproductive. How the chaplain at your high school may have responded to questions of yours really isn't relevant to the questions of the content being explored.
Anyway, I've decided to give up on all that. It's getting nobody anywhere ... but speaking of being unfair, I owe you an apology.
I shot my mouth off here while, in the same breath, I said I would "never belittle or insult someone who researches and reports on these topics". But that's exactly what I did after you had been nothing but cordial toward me. And for that, I apologize.
No, you were not whining. You were upset and I understand why you would. That is why I explained to you that I cannot control the opinion of my guests but that does not necessarily mean I share them. That is why I took the time to inform you of where I stood.
Believe me when I tell you my experience with the priests and the "BECAUSE GOD SAYS SO" was not an exaggeration. I did not leave the church. I am just looking for answers elsewhere. That is all.
By the way, sorry for any typing mistakes. I wrote this late at night and I type faster than I think.
