X-Conference 2008

Free episodes:

As a local I'm going to post some places to go that are nearby the Hilton. ( I've lived in Gaithersburg for a looooong time )
First place that comes to mind is a really interesting Pub called "Roy's Place" that has been there since I was a tot. They have a pretty crazy menu with like 200 sandwiches. Fun place.

Check out the menu. At least the web design is a notch above Jeff's new site :P
My 2 favorites from the huge menu
59. The Sweet William
107. Snow White Dove
http://www.roysplacerestaurant.com/menu.html

I'll edit this post with some more restaurants

- Icculus ( Brian )

Icculus,

good thing you posted the link for Roy's now...we'll have time to read that awesome menu before we get there!

So is there really a serious plan for a Paracast get-together/dinner?

I am a local to the area.
I have not (as of yet) made any specific plans to attend the conference
...but I am rather fond of the idea of meeting up with some fellow Paracast listeners/like minded thinkers.

So how was the conference????

I got slammed with work, so between that and the holiday I couldn't make it. grrrrrr.

It wasn't so much the conference as who we got to talk with...and what they said.

Altogether? Severely surreal to me. It was awesome. More then awesome.

And what, I gather, you'll hear on the April 27th edition of The Paracast where, according to David, "there will be no rules."

Prepare to be amazed, shocked, happy, sad, and totally wacky all at the same time. And that's before you hear this episode. :D

The parts of the conference I attended on Saturday were quite good. Unfortunately I had the sinus infection from hell with a fever and hotel air conditioning wasn’t doing me any favors. I did actually see David from a distance walking down the isle at one point, but I didn’t spend much time mingling because I was sick so I didn’t get the chance to introduce myself.

From my weakened state the first aviary guy, Dr. John Alexander gave a really good talk. In talking with Steve Basset, he disagreed with some of what John had say, not surprising. Overall I thought John came off as a real insider who had made an effort to find out what was going on. He even commented on a book my brother got me for Xmas – “The men who stare at goats”. He talked about how he has contacts at high levels across agencies and how he was in the midst of really organizing congressional hearings in 2001 when before he could get it done, Steve Greer and company's DP conference messed up his whole initiative because no one in congress wanted to be associated with the quack factor of Greer. Very interesting indeed!

The general message of his talk IMO was that indeed UFO’s are as real as anything and have been proven with physical evidence beyond question, but at the same time they are not a national security threat and therefore of low priority for better or worse within the hierarchy. He went on to say he doesn’t think there is a ‘gov within the gov’ situation, at least based on his first hand talks with high level people including Ben Rich and others at that level. He also said that Phil Corso, while a highly regarded guy in his field, really overstepped his influence in Roswell debris boosting technology development and was completely off on how the cold war was really about UFO's.

Alexander said some of his trusted colleagues disagree with him about the existence of a insider UFO working group, but he went on to say that those colleagues ‘sources’ on the existence of UFO insiders within the government are typically 2nd or 3rd hand, whereas all his sources are first hand, and it does seem Alexander has access to very high up people.

Bruce Mcaccabee spoke next, Bruce wasn’t as good as John IMO. He mostly talked about some of the unpublished stories of one of his insider contacts known as ‘Hawk’. Some of ‘Hawks’ alleged stories were interesting, but I didn’t find much of it as credible as Alexander or as insightful.

After Bruce came Scott Jones. Scott Jones talk was way too long at the end IMO, as he started to provide his intergalactic post disclosure new deal plan which lasted way too long. However he did have a really interesting life story up until then filled with high strangeness as well as professing a strong personal belief in the power of the consciousness. I enjoyed Scott’s talk more than Bruce’s but not as much as Johns. Forgot to mention that Bruce did comment on that alleged UN meeting, when someone from the audience asked him the question. I believe Bruce said, to my surprise, that he had heard that conference probably did happen but it was more of an informal gathering that used the UN offices rather than a UN sanctioned meeting. Interesting for Bruce to say this I thought. Scott Jones discussed an experience in Korea where he was in heavy airfire as a pilot and he had an out of body experience. After this experience it seems like his intuition was hightened and he became able to detect where enemies anti-aircraft facilities were located just based on his gut, literally! Scott told a story where he encountered a lady who said she reconized Scott from seeing him on the “mothership”. This would infer he was an abductee, however Scott has no memories of being on a ship at any time, but he did press this lady to find out why he didn’t have these memories of being on the ship. SO the lady asked the aliens why, and they told her they didn’t want to interfere with Scott’s peace work, but at some point in his life Scott would recover all his memories. Very strange, but I found it interesting as well. Scott Jones like the others, has a fairly extensive academic background, I think he had a PhD from American U. My internet is getting really slow so bear with me on any typos.... I hate COMCAST!!!!

At the banquet which was pushed back very late, Paul Hellyer gave a short talk about how UFO’s are real and that questions like possible new energy technologies need to be answerd sooner than later, so disclosure is extremely important to getting these answers. Edgar Mitchell then gave a talk (I didn't know how strong his academic background was, impressive!), he focused more on consciousness than on UFO’s. Edgar seems to be student of meditation. Scott Jones and Edgar Mitchell both put a big emphasis on consciousness. Finally close to midnight I went home and pounded 4 cold and sinus advils!!!!

I really want to hear about Jeff’s experience at the conference, so Jeff please give us the scoop either via the message board or in an upcoming paracast episode.

I can't believe how crappy the Wizards are playing tonight @*@!!!

Rocketsauce-
Thanks for the report. Alexander's take on the government's stance is interesting given his status as an apparently closely tied insider. A debate between he and Dolan would be very intriguing. Comcast is horrible. Hope you're feeling better...

Jeff and David-
I can't wait to hear the next Paracast episode! I guess this follows what I'd heard about the last X-Conference in that the really interesting stuff happened outside of the scheduled lectures.

Jeff, do I really have to wait for the show though or will you be blogging about the conference too? (nice looking site by the way)

Thanx Todd. Nah I'll be putting part 1 of my looong post up this afternoon, probably a little after lunch.

I just read your post. That is really interesting.

This field is so crazy, maybe David was right when he stated (I'm paraphrasing) on the last Paracast (4/20) that a reorganization or overhaul of the field might not be possible.

At this point, the UFO field is too fractured and there are too many competing interests to bring people together. You'd probably want to throw it all out and start over -- really!

You're not wrong there. All those competing egos and agendas - they're as much a hindrance as the hoaxers and official secret-keepers. More so, maybe. God, I wish I wasn't so interested in effing UFOs!

Yep, I agree with that 100%. It would be much more productive if I was obsessed with something that made some $$$ like maybe financial planning or accounting, or even something that was good for health like exercise or weight lifting, or even something that was just doing good for the community like training seeing eye dogs or something. But no, I have to spend a few hours each week trying to learn about UFO's..... Why God Why!!!

Rocketsauce,
Get out while you can!! It only gets worse the longer you stay in it.
The more you learn the weirder and the questions get IMO.

Well on one hand you have to hand it to the government. The Robertson Panel and Blue Book left everything wide open for this quagmire to snowball into what it is today.

I was just searching around the UFO web-sphere on my lunch break and came across Valiens blog and the low down on some of the stuff from the X conference. Sounds like the next paracast is gonna be great! Do not miss it!

Bassett is definitely a super feisty dude who likes to draw and stick to his conclusions. Maybe he watches too much political TV, where people who have really strong opinions/conclusions and are aggressive are the ones who are rewarded. Seems like a common Type A trait to argue something into the ground even if your wrong . Which is good for ratings, but in private you'd think people would be more open to other views. Kind of reminds me of my brother actually, there is no point in debating him on anything and he is an aggressive guy like Steve.. Let him cling to his fragile ETH, as long as he can get some credible guys out to my neck of the woods once a year and push the issue with the mass media, I'll check out the x conference.

I can say in his defense, that working an event like that, mostly by yourself for 4 days would make anyone crazy exhausted to the max. My work has several conferences year round and even though they have an entire department that works on these things, everyone has to be on call 24 hours a day for like 4-5 days and afterwards the people usually take 1-2 week vacations after each event. It is brutal.

On a side note, my only face to face interaction with Steve was when they didn't give me tickets to the dinner when I registered and I when I asked him what I should do in the absolute nicest way possible he said very intensely, "Okay okay, just relax...". Which was strange since I was about as cool and nonchalant as you could get. I sensed a little bit of social disconnect in his reaction, he could be mildly socially retarded as I like to label people who's fidelity levels in social interactions seem a bit.......... off. But Steve did give me 2 tickets out of his personal stash from his pocket since he felt bad, so it was actually a nice thing he did.

Bottom line, he is a hyper intense dude and has set views on things for better or worse. Not worth trying to open his mind to anything, but I think he is worth continuing to work with since he at least tries to 'act' more than just 'talk'. I think if in fact he says he is not supporting the Greers of the world, he needs to be more vocal about not being in the 'exopolitics' camp, which he doesn't do, so I think he is on a slippery slope there and I bet he adjusts his verbal support a little bit depending on who he shares company with. I think I probably do that as well :)

I also think steve is a really stubborn dude who sticks to 'his' ways of doing things. I once emailed him several local marketing ideas for getting people to the x-conference, rather than just depend on the national UFO media. But as far as I can tell, the only people who know about the X conference in DC are people who already listen to the UFO national media stuff.

I think for him to get a story in the DC City Paper would be very realistic and would boost attendence or even getting on some local college radio stations or even getting a street team to hand out fliers to people coming off strategic metro stop locations are pretty basic things. It's one thing to travel across the country for a conference, it's quite another to have to drive 10 minutes down the street. The only reason I go to the X conference is that it's a ten minute drive!

I really can't wait to hear the next episode!

Also, about Jeff's post on his blog (which I just managed to locate yesterday and everyone should check out- http://www.thesecondeclipse.com/blog/), I do find that meeting people in person often changes your perception of them, even if you completely disagree with them. I bet even the evil George Bush would be a fun a guy to have a couple drinks with, in the same way that playing checkers with the antichrist could be fun ..... I kid I kid, or am I? :)

I think I posted this somewhere before. One of my good friends was a secret service agent until about 2006. He said that GW** was hands down a really, really nice guy, funny too. Said alot of good things about him. fyi - my friend could 100% care less about BS politics, I'd have to say he is as bi-partisan as they get. It was just a job.

Contrary to Bush he ( and many others ) said that Hillary treated them like total crap. Real cold person.

**Going back to Bush being "cool"—I sure as hell would be nice to people protecting me.

yeah, seems like he would be a nice guy to hang with at a bar. But I wouldn't put him in charge of organizing the get together :) Hilary on the other hand would probably tell you what time you needed to show up! McCaine might show up if he agrees with the location, but you never know about that guy. Obama would be there like 30 mins early with a neat matching sweater on.
