A potential of 14 billion years of evolutionary time prior the emergence of humans

From what I've heard, sufficient biogenic elements for the onset of evolution already existed well within the first billion years. So even if, based on our experience, it takes roughly five billion years after formation of a suitable terrestrial planet for intelligence to arise, there could be at least one alien race 8 billion years ahead of us.

I put yes. -Even though- I have been re-thinking the Ufos-are-ET spaceships 'conventional wisdom', I believe that --at some time--, an intelligent humanlike Other, has indeed made contact, but it resides within the deepest of hidden cloaking. I believe that Those, could very well be the ones doing the cattle mutilations. I believe that something not of Us, has left hard evidence, maybe because of a crash. Definitely, ancient artifacts. I think that the 'Starchild' skull, is truely anomalous, & could be from an 'ET'.

I can't answer because I don't have a firm belief as to the origins of these things. If the question is, "Is something going on" I would answer yes though.

Uhh boy. You might look into this a bit. There is an interview with Mr Pye here and lots of other stuff elsewhere. It's pretty sketchy at best as far as I can tell. It's a real skull, but alien it is not.

Here is a few threads discussing it

And here is the interview

Make up your own mind.

An 8 billion year advance on us is beyond our comprehension. Making sense of the expression of technology at such a stage would be close to impossible.

Humans have gone through different ages... Bronze, Iron... silicon, carbon... etc. as new elements were exploited. Extrapolating the benefits of exploiting properties of new elements that benefit more evolved races is nuts.

That's probably why there's is very little interference or contact. They have very little to gain from us (or nothing at all) and we are not evolved enough to decode what they have to offer us :D

Time for a general consensus. We have heard the stories, listened endlessly to the bobbleheads, watched pure hoaxes arise in our culture, made our own conclusions. Now I ask the question.

Has Earth been visited by intelligent beings that don't originate here?

It's difficult to word the question so it doesn't just encompass ETH. This could be ultra-dimensional, ETH, but I suppose not crypto's unless they voyaged here long ago and have rooted down somewhere.

You have the right to be wrong and to change your view but at this point what do you think?

The only acceptable answers are YES or NO. Panspermia doesn't count as a YES, I think that is a different topic altogether.
How can the only acceptable answers be YES or NO?
For me the only honest answer I can give is "I don't know".

Ha, ha. I had to check when I originally posted this. March 2008! That's a long time ago. I guess sometimes old threads get new life.

Anyway, that has been the chief complaint on this poll and I'm glad it wasn't changed to add a "maybe" or a "I don't know" (no one does....well, I don't) It's really a poll considering your best guess, your best gut feeling whether something has visited us. A "maybe" or "I don't know" would undoubtedly be the safest and most honest answer, I completely agree. But I was really after people's impresssions, knowing what they know about the subject, to give a 'yes' or 'no'. No one is going to hold them, or you, to it. No one is going to ask you to prove it.

If you had to hazard a guess with the only options being yes or no, what would you say?? Dare ya.

At least it can explain why ETs are here, even if inhabited worlds are very few and far between, and even if the speed of light barrier is insurmountable. They may have had a very long time to spead.
